Does it become an obsession.. just looked to see how much i had in total 85 rolls and that includes the box's of 5x4 not a sheet count.
as you get into shooting film do you start to collect film as well ?

I think you might find that many of us find ourselves with collections of bargain buys of film....if a deal comes up, how can we be expected to turn it down :D

If you don't continue to buy it, they won't continue to make it.

I am doing my part.

I thought I ought to take an inventory of my stock last weekend, down to my last 208 rolls, I probably need to start to re stock!

As RJ says we need to keep buying it so that they keep making it

Strangely I never have very much film at home (although the current Mrs Snap may disagree). I did a quick count last night and I have about 15 rolls of Agfa Vista another 10 rolls of various b&w 35mm, 12 rolls of Ektar 35mm and 10 rolls of various 120. Off to 7 day shop now...:D

According to my Inventory Spreadsheet (yes, I know... OCD and all that - it's mostly in the freezer, in jiffy bags, in ice-cream tubs, frozen and not easy to physically count on a ad-hoc basis...) I'm down to my last 104 rolls. Which at my current rate of usage should see me running out in approximately the year 2097...

ive got my eye on a box of apx 100 as id love to add that classic to my collection. Ive found depending on what im photographing or style of image defines the film so my stock pile is great idea and keeps things going in a good direction.
tho with the weather at the mo im wanting for a 67 system as my 5x4 in high wind acts like a sail

I tend to not to have too much stock in hand preferring to order as the last batch starts to wane but I’ve got loads of Velvia and Provia in the freezer which I’ve not shot due to my ongoing dislike of scanning the stuff and a small stock pile of Pan25 which has gone out of production. Speaking of which I’m running out of Pan-F...

Thats about my count as well I have so much Agfa Vista I have over committed :-)

I asked for loads of 120 slide film for christmas and have 20 roles :-

For me about 10 in the freezer, 30 in the fridge & 10 loaded in cameras. Most of it is Vista, but there is also some FP4, XP2, Sensia Portra 160 & my last roll of Portra 160VC. Planning on adding a few rolls of Agfa slide film to the mix.

I sometimes look at old film from the 60's to 80's on ebay & think to myself do I want to start collecting it. Not to try shooting it, just to have it sitting on a shelf as an ornament. Have resisted the temptation so far but maybe one day. If it starts I imagine it will be with a roll of Kodachrome.

thing is Kodachrome would be pointless as its un useable unless its as a decoration

Yep & decoration is all it would be . Part of me thinks that it would be nice to have a little display of what was available when film was King. I have a old copy of the 35mm Photographer's Handbook that I have owned since 1984 & it has a nice section of all the films that were available back then. No way would I try shooting a roll of film from the 80's, but they could make a nice little ornament on a shelf.

the older slow black n whites age ok so you could get away with shooting some classic films as long as they are stored well i guess

Oh Dear -- de-frosted my Film fridge --well I have half of another one in the garage ( both given luckily but NOT the electric to run them ! )
I just got a lot of fillum from Upminster Camera Club the other week including over 60 cassettes non-process paid 2006 Fuji Sensia 100

What!!! This is madness... Hope you're sorted for a while with all of this!

i haven't shot any myself, but processing it (b/w) is easy enough. I work in a lab and although it's time consuming i'm getting nice negs considering it's a rescue at this stage.

i did look into it and the remjet layer is a b****r to get off from what ive read tho this is all from online so no idea on the truth of the matter. Would you be willing to throw up a quick bit of info on how to process ?

i'm sworn to secrecy. :(

Rodinal 1:100 for the devving, then a soft sponge to remove the rem-jet worked for me.
Or if you want to dissolve the rem-jet
1 Litre of water, 100g of sodium sulphate, 20g of sodium borate and a bit of sodium hydroxide to get the solution to about pH 9

waste of time and EFFORT processing Kodachrome as B&W I think when there is so much real B&W film around -- surely it does not give as good definition as 'ordinary' B&W?

it's a bit of a faff but if you have already shot it or have some in stock you might as well use it and as far as i know b/w and remjet removal is the only way forward. I'd shoot some if i had some. :)

I have very little fridge space at uni. So my film has to stay in my room out of the way :(
