If theres a prize for the most boring photo i think this might win it but I have decided (at the 11th hour )to give this challenge ago. On the plus side photos can only get betterView attachment 3614

It's not boring at all! A good take on lines. The lines and colours add drama to it. Good start.

Hi Colin & a belated welcome from me

Like Lines as an abstract....partial to the colors ....might be tempted to crop out the far rhs to get rid of the dark edge ?

Look forward to seeing more from you (y)

Hi Colin, I love the colours in this photor, and actually like the black edge, I feel it adds perspective and depth IMO. Looking forward to seeing some more 'boring' photos from you!

I rather like it, agree to crop out the right hand side and it's a nice colourful abstract that fits the theme

Hi, with everyone else needs a slight crop but nice colour in there

Would've liked to have seen the whole board in view.

Good focus and good use of dof.

I think I'd like to see this with a bigger DOF. I find the foreground being so prominent and OOF a bit unsettling.

Apart from tht I like the composition, lighting etc

I see where you are coming from in having the focus on the hand making the 'play' but my observation would like to have the both the two pawns in the middle in sharp focus OR both of them out of focus and the hand being in focus, as it stands the focus seems to be on nothing in particular.

Not bothered that the sides of the board are missing as to include everything obsessively makes for predictable pictures. We know the rest of the chess board is there, we don't need to see it so the picture is good in that respect for me.

As mentioned, shame corners are cropped, I would have preferred to see them, but apart from that, good image :)

+1 for the DoF comment, though not so worried about clipped corners of the board. Love the colours of the set too.

Thank you everyone for your comments, they are much appreciated, the corners are clipped as I wanted to shoot at an angle, as straight on looked awful and boring, so shooting at this angle if I had showed the whole board they're would have been a lot of empty space in the photo frame. I agree with some people comments about focus or dof, possibly these could have been inproved.

Nice chess set

On theme and the inclusion if the had adds to the narrative.

I see where the focus is and why, but the FG pieces being OOF draw my eye. I'd prefer a slightly tighter crop.

Cheers.

HI ya

I quite like the angle , not concerned about the cropped board edges , focus is niggling a little with the gold figures being off but it doesn't detract too much , rather it draws your eye toward the hand playing the move (y) My niggle would be the radiator in the background:exit:

Hi
Line...not boring. really like the colours and as has been said would lose the far right hand side
Play...I like the angle, maybe tighter framing to lose radiator in background, nice lighting.

Close the curtains......this 52 challenge is going to be harder than I thought, a week goes so quickly, I must try to get my photos done earlier in the week

Not a bad idea and good detail. I'd like to see a bit of motion, though and crop the RH teddy out :)

Don't forget to add a link in the 'no comments' for ease of commenting

Cheers.
