Best band ever?

Snowball fights ... that's the only fun offered from cold play.

There's no such thing is there?

There's only subjective opinion, as in my favourite band is..........

For me, that changes on a weekly basis.

How about you tell us why you think they are Roger (if you do, that is) :)
I agree with Simon though, it is subjective opinion. I do however have a favourite band of all time, but I never had the chance to see them live.

Not my cup of tea.
Completely understand. It's not for everyone but, when I listen to their overall career I do wonder if it's not one of the best bands now or ever.

Compared to every other band there is.

110% agree. I loved Yellow, the everything afterwards started sliding downhill and they're still going. Picking up momentum in fact. Any song with whoaoaoaoaoaooaoooooaoohhh as a lyric is instantly binnable.

Just going to leave this here...

Hey, if you like 'em, good on yer.

I agree with praxis, average at best. But that's just me.

Yeah, me too. I've got a few I could throw in to the mix. But when I listen to Coldplay it just takes me to that place i need to go. Subjective it is. As was Elvis, Micheal J. Pink Floyd so on and so forth.

For me the only tune I even slightly enjoyed was the one they borrowed from Kraftwerk.

Interesting you pick those.

Again, it's all down to whatever floats your boat and, to a large extent, you have no control over that.

For me, Elvis made one or two of the greatest rock n roll albums of all time and then rapidly disappeared up his own dollar lined ass.

M.J. made three incredible albums.

Pink Floyd were, for me, the greatest band that ever existed up to and including Wish You Were here, and then spoiled it with dire, self indulgent dirges.

A tragedy.

Okay, you lot. I seem, at this present time, to be in a league of my own. I'm gonna post the link i'm listening to write now.

Happy Days!

Coldplay had difficulties with the recording sessions for months, as to the sound of the track.[1][2] They were skeptical in deciding to add "Talk" to the final tracklisting of X&Y.[1] During the recording sessions, which had seen the band scrap huge amounts of material, the song was left out when they sent early versions of the album to its record label, Parlophone. The song, however, made it to the track list, after it was properly mixed.[1]

Chris Martin singing "Talk" during the band's 2005Twisted Logic Tour
When asked about the development of the song by NME.com, vocalist Chris Martin said, "From that version, [a version that NME.com heard, while visiting the band in the studio] we went and did a whole other version of it. A whole other song. What happened with the song 'Talk' is that it was all going great and then someone said 'That should be the first single' and we all just freaked out and scrapped it all. [...] We’ve just mixed it and it sounds great. I think we’ve had such pain getting to that place, I’m not sure anyone quite knows what to do with it anymore. When we heard it mixed properly, it sounded mega."[1]

The band received permission from the electronic music German band Kraftwerk to use the main riff from its song "Computer Love" (German:Computerliebe), from its 1981 studio album Computer World (German: Computerwelt), for "Talk", replacing Kraftwerk's synthesizers with guitars.[3][4][5]

The band recorded three separate versions of the single; the one recorded on X&Y was based on an early cut of the song.[6] A newer version of the track – with a different set of lyrics – was leaked onto the internet in early 2005.[7] The track was originally intended to be a B-side for the song "Speed of Sound", before becoming the last addition to X&Y's track listing

Permission given. Well, in my book, it's coldplay's.

Ignore that, Ricardo, I some how thought you said they stole it from Krafwerk, and reading back you said borrowed. Apologies!

Bunch of effing students... can't stand Martin, so patronising... Couple of good songs but average at best.

You can't beat the Beatles as the best ever, with IMO, the Kinks & pink floyd coming close behind. Add Zeppelin... they are what you call great! Oasis and Blur beat Coldplay, as do Manic St Preachers, Slade and Radioheads OK Computer knocks anything Coldplay have ever done out the window.

All Dinosaurs, mate. Done and dusted. What I hear on the radio is Coldplay mixing it up with the todays.

Ahhh, so you meant the 'greatest mediocre band' capable of satisfying the wider audience consisting of people who love dancing round the kitchen while heating the kids' fish fingers etc.... Different kettle of fish fingers mate :D

You joking?

No I'm not. I really do think this band has a shot!

Best Coldplay song ever.
Fact

Love it!

Which is where? The WC? Coventry?
or Hastings:)

Mediocre? Your joking right? One of the biggest bands in the last decade and their satisfying a wider audience of lilly kitchen cookers who bake cakes.

Interesting you pick those.

Yeah Pink Floyd were for me a band that passed over me, only for the reason that I wasn't in their time. I grew up with The Specials, Madsness, Oi music although I dont remember to much for all the glue I went to see a tribu

M.J. did make some good albums but, for me the whole thing with his 'is he, isn't he' saga leaves me wondering....

The above response, from me, was a whole heatedly attempt to respond to those who took the time to respond to this thread. I believe[it works for Camron] that I may of messed it up. Big Time!!! I still think that Cold Play has what it takes to give the likes of Zepplin, Flyod and all that a run for their money! :)

Without getting into this, I'll just say you cannot compare a pop band like coldplay with the bands you listed in your last post. No point discussing it in my opinion, you might as well jsut bring Abba and Take That into the equation

Oh, come on, get into it! I'm up for it! Lets here it. I may learn something.

When you try your best, but you don't succeed
When you get what you want, but not what you need
When you feel so tired, but you can't sleep
Stuck in reverse....

I'm sure this dude was singing about me.

Sorry Roger, but I was watching a rock music documentary ... I've watched quite a few over the years, covering various genres of music and there's one thing they have in common .... no mention of Coldplay
