Hi all. Ive made quite alot of mdf mounts for friends and family. At the moment i just spray glue the pictures on with o.k results. To get over the picture bowing i use 18mm mdf. My problem is the cheapest laminator I can find is about £140 and that only goes up to 15mm and its manual. The biggest pictures ive done so far are a3 but the laminator I was looking at was 650mm which should cover me for bigger projects in the future.
If I could find two rollers I reckon I could easily knock up something much cheaper and allow it to press thicker boards.
If I could make it after finding some rollers, what are the keywords I should be looking for when sourcing some adhesive pressure sheet. I guess im asking if there are any brands I should avoid and what other brands people recommend.

I think I also bought some from colorbyte ages ago ( and still have some left as it was a huge roll)... Does the job fine!
 
Both those links are perfect thankyou. Firefire i looked and looked and looked for ages and couldn't find one big enough so thanks for posting that one. So the laminator and adhesive are sorted. Are all sticky protective coverings the same ? I think it might help protect the image, maybe even help with uv fading the print. Theres gloss which is pretty self explanatory, but I had one picture done that had a more satin sheen and the surface had tiny dimples which I thought was a nice effect- any idea what it may have been ?

I use a Hot Press Jetmounter with Colourbyte satin laminate then mount onto foamboard with the double sided mount film. Yes, the laminate gives a nice satin finish with physical as well as UV protection. There are some textured cold laminate films available too, DPSB do an extensive range by Hot Press although I've not tried the textured ones. I did try the Hot Press satin laminate, it was thinner than the Colorbyte one and harder to handle (especially with larger prints) but gave a good finish. Colourbyte do a textured one too... I think they're happy to send samples if you wanted to try it (they used to anyway).
