I wonder if you can help. I have a set of Cokin ND and GND filters. I know they are the cheapest out there and I know there are problems with purple hues to the images, but I'm not ready to replace them quite yet. I have used them for months with a Fuji finepix s7000 and had pretty much no problem with them. I've just got a Canon 450D and all of a sudden my images are coming out purple with them.

Does anyone know why I wouldn't have the problem with the Fuji but I do with the Canon? I'm hoping there's something I can do to at least minimise the effects.

You can mitigate it somewhat with white balance, but fundamentally Cokin Grad do have a colour cast.

Thanks. Is there a particular WB setting I should use, or should I get myself a gray card and do a custom one?

DR: I can't tell if that's a genuine question or a shameless plug...

Can't it be both? :naughty:

I don't recall there being any purple at the time, but then everything was happening so quickly and I was so focussed on getting the shots that I might have just missed it.

If it is a by-product of the Cokin filters then, well, I kinda like it in this case. I might not appreciate it in every situation, though.
