Can anyone help?

Im looking to buy Cokin P series filters and a bit confused about which holder I should go for. Id rather stick to the one holder to use for two lenses...70-200 and 10-20 but theres two  Do I have to buy both?

Cokin BP400A P Series Wide-Angle Filter Holder

or

Cokin P400 P Series Filter Holder

The adapter rings are made to individual thread sizes i.e 67mm for the 70-200 and 72mm for the 10-20 so you would need two of these but thay're cheap as chips on the bay. The holders are universal and clip to the adapter ring.

I apreciate I need two adaptor rings for individual lenses Garynlea...its the holder Im not sure about as there is a wide angle one and a standard one

"The wide angle holder helps to eliminate vignetting down to 20mm focal length and allows the use of filters with super wide lenses"

My question is is the wide angle holder also suitable to use with my 70-200?

The regular holder will hold up to three filters, the wide angle one will only hold two filters, so it does not stick out as much and vignette on wide angle lenses.

Unless you think you will be stacking multiple filters then go for the wide angle one and use it on both lenses.

Sorry, though you meant the rings ..

For the 10-20 I'd go for the wideangle (100mm, I think) to avoid vignetting but it can still be used on any other lens, just a big bulkier. The standard is 85mm but you also need to factor in the size of the filters to go with the size of holder you choose.

Thanks Anwa/Garynlea

So....I go for the wide angle holder (and two adapter rings) which holds any P series filters right?

mmm....am I limiting myself being only able to stack two filters though?

so difficult!

You are limiting yourself to only using 2 filters at a time but in the real world, that's not such a bad thing! Unless you're very careful, stacking filters in a Cokin (or any square syatem) can introduce horrific flare as the light gets between the filters and bounces around. So, go for the wide angle holder for the P system as a start and IF you find you need to use more than 2 filters on the longer lens, get a "normal" holder at a later date.
