Hello, I am just wondering if anyone has used Cokin P filters on a Tokina 11-16mm, and how badly it vignettes (if at all)? Also if it help I'm using a crop body (Canon 450d)
I've recently got a Tokina 11-16mm as well and would like some filters for it so I'd be interested in the responses to this thread. I've seen wide angle cokin filter holders but I'm not sure how wide you can actually use them.
Anyone got any links to cokin adapters, filter holders and filters that they recommend for use with this lens?
I posted some example shots on another thread a few weeks ago showing what you get on a 40D cropped sensor using a Sigma 10-20 and wide angle holder at 10mm.
40D - Sigma 10-20 - Kood 77mm ring - Cokin slim holder - Hitech ND Grad 9
Shot (a dirty) fridge door with no filter at 10mm
It was a horrible yellowy light in kitchen so 'custom set' the white balance then shot fridge door again twice with a magnet to focus on.
1 = No filter - Sigma @ 10mm (f11 - 4 sec no flash)
2 - Then added the Hitech ND Grad 9 - Sigma @ 10mm (f11 - 6 sec - no flash)
You certainly can't see the holder itself which some people say they can at 10mm but you do get vignetting at the darker top half. That said I found it far more noticable in this example against the fridge than I ever have outdoors.
Thanks for that, it really is the type of information I am looking for. Seems to have less vignetting than I expected (well good enough for my uses anyway) and I don't think it would be too much of a problem for me in real world use.
I guess it would be more or less the same at 11mm on a Tokina 11-16mm (unless anyone can show me otherwise?)
