Cocked shutter

Likewise...I've done it, but I try not to - as with anything mechanical, if there's something left under tension then generally it's a bad thing...

Hmm. Rollei 35 (and a few others) will not allow you to close the camera without the shutter being cocked... but ultimately I'm with Arkady, it can't be a good thing over time - how much sleep do you get at night if you're tense...

What a delightful analogy - images of happy Leicas snoozing peacefully on the shelf a la Bagpuss-stylee...

 and all the Rolleis stomping around in a bad mood with bags under their eyes...

Theoretically yes, but I doubt if a few weeks, or a few months, is going to make much difference now and again. Bit like leaving pistol magazines fully loaded. It can weaken the springs and cause misfeeds, but people have been doing it for years.
