weekly Cobra's 52 surreptitious Shoe-horns for 2016 week 52 celebrate and done

Hey Guvnor,
Ancient - Both look pretty old to me, and with the explanation behind the rhino, even more on topic. As Stan says, what's with being on theme this week? You're letting us down. ;)
Urban - The puddy tat does seem to be king of his urban jungle. LOL at the re-edit with the tagging (y)
Pair - Much better, this is more on the horned shoe theme. Not sure I'd want to meet her on a dark night.
Re-shoot - I didn't notice the gate at the bottom until I read the comments, the image successfully directed my eyes through teh scene to the monument.

Thanks for all the kind comments Tim, and I know, I really must try harder to stay off theme in future :D

That you are... shots are even in focus !!!
:mooning:

:p

I really like your first post for urban, very gritty and as urban as tiger photography gets.

And great facial expression of www. But I'm surprised that her jesses are made from kangaroo leather. Couldn't you find anything closer to home or is kangaroo leather vastly superior?

Very nice symmetry for your re-shoot, but where are the animals?
Thanks Bernd :) re-shoot, the animals are all hiding in the trees and bushes, didn't you see them? :D

As for Kangaroo leather, it is far lighter and far stronger than "normal" hides.

Pair well its good to see you've still got the shoehorn magic :p

What a cracking image that stare is frightening

I managed it for about 3/4 of the 52 ... so far so good :D
Cheers Mark

Try to keep to your Shoehorn theme its better that way, after all if if not broken don't fix it.:p:D

Hence the title "Surruptious Shoe horns"

How about a BIG expanse of water in a typically arid country?

And this one?
Taken AFTER I returned home, as you can see, it was bloody raining !

And finally, this maybe seem very ALIEN to us, but its a typical way people are "buried" in hot countries.
The coffins are placed in a "hole" in a wall and then its sealed up.

Big - it certainly is a big expanse of water, I'd like to see a bit more sky in that photo. But then you'd sacrifice the bigness of the lake...
After - beautiful skunk bear photo, very sharp.
Alien - nicely framed between the two trees, but I prefer cremation.

Nothing other than blue sky after that just the few clouds over the hills, so I deliberately shot it that way to show the lake :)
Thanks for dropping by Bernd

All three work for the themes, glad you came back to a bit of rain wouldn't be home without it

You'll soon get used to the it Chris ...whats better than the soft rain on your face :D

Wonderful expanse of smooth, silky water for Big, it looks as if you could walk on it.

I like the choice for Alien, interesting to see another culture, and great framing with those two trees.

Warm ( 25oC ) European sunshine ?

Great catch-up Cobra some great shoe-horns there :)

My favourite is Big lovely subtle colours and a great sky.

Hi Mr. C. The BIG water looks beautiful especially contrasting as it does with the arid nature of the landscape through which it passes. The animal shot may well have been taken After you came home but is it just my imagination or is also because the beastie appears engaged in post waste disposal bark scraping? Yes, definitely an Alien arrangement to us here - well composed with the tress framing the wall.

LOL he was sitting there posing as I had called him "over" a trick taught to me by one of the keepers not long after they (the Wolverines) arrived ;)
And no, he didn't take a dump :D

Thanks for the kind comments Carl :)

It looks a very special place, interesting. Of course I like the big water.:)

Yo scaly one.
Big - It certainly is large, plenty sharp, but try as I might, I can't find the Bird / Lion / Bear doing the gob shot.
In my opinion it's lacking a little contrast. Adding a black point may help.
After - That's better, the return of the many horned shoe. Nicely sharp and the rain perhaps adds to the background blur.
Alien - The framing of the shot works nicely. Fits the theme, with only a small amount of colour I find myself wondering how it would look in B&W.

There was a bear doing the back stroke just before I took that, but it swam to the right, around the "point" .. I was just a little too slow in pressing the shutter :(

I take your point (black or other wise :D )

It was hissing down, I'm surprised I could see the Wolverine TBH let alone the back ground :D

I'll give it a try later, but I think I'm gonna have to up the contrast quite a bit, or maybe saturate the image before I convert it.

Thanks for the honest feed back Tim

Big; different from your usual animal shot. Is that a reservoir of just a big lake. The reservoirs here in Cyprus is only 21% of their total capacity at present. Been no rain for a few months now.
After; looks as though he/she is after something and ready for the kill.
Alien; nice composition with the two trees framing the main subject. Their practice of burial is definitely alien to us.

Its a reservoir, Stan, a dammed river. It actually didn't look particularly low, "as an average" but it was a few feet below max. tide line.

After; looks as though he/she is after something and ready for the kill.
Ready to kill the keeper who shut him out while she was cleaning his pen :D

Their practice of burial is definitely alien to us.
And all done within 24 hours apparently, none of this UK 3 weeks waiting, but then I'm not surprised in that heat are you?
Thanks for dropping by Stan

BTW this is the other side of the dam.
Just a quick edit

Interesting snaps Boss.

Really liking the reservoir shot, the stillness of it all. Blue water blue sky and lifelessness in between.

I thought they were artistic interpretations personally, ah well back to the drawing board :D

Both work for me, the first one is a great photo, and the second... well, who doesn't like penguins? :D

Love the liquid lunch Chris....you look, chilled :D

nice touch with the straw, my kind of lunch break, with a good connection between both vices

I'm worried about you

Liquid lunch is nicely done, I like that you captured the vape against the background. Excellent timing with the penguin, made me smile :D
