weekly Cobra's 52 surreptitious Shoe-horns for 2016 week 52 celebrate and done

Well the gorilla is great ! Really like the shade around his eyes. Nice detail and tone
Thanks Chris :)

That's a beautiful shot of the silver back Chris - very expressive. If by chance you didn't get the message, then the wolverine is giving you the visual interpretation in Sign. I like the Re-shoot best for the sharp focus on the eyes and the detail
Glad you like the re-shoot Carl, I wasn't sure if it would be to anyone's liking due to the focal point and shallow DoF
(f/2.8 and as close as I could and still get a focus lock, about a meter, leaning right over the barrier :D )

Love the gorilla shot :)

The signing gorilla is actually a 44 year old female called Koko.
She was good "friends" with Robin Williams, and apparently cried when told of his death.
Awww thats sad :(

Quick catch up from me

Stone isn't a shoehorn at all if you think laterally, or have been on the dope again, and he's cute into the bargain :D
Just like me then :D

Simple :dummy:I said no meerkats.....and I think the reshoot is the best of the three shots
When do I ever listen? Eh? :p

Signs is a cracker. Such expression on that face and giving you the come on by the looks of it
I didn't think he was gay :(
:D

Thanks guys (y)

Really like all 3 of your images Cobra and the lateral thinking thing the 1st 2............

Your reshoot image for Simple(s) if really very very good

Gorilla looks happy. And the wolverine fits the theme.

I'me sure that wolverine is sending you a signal  and that is a very nice meerkat photo

Nice gorilla for Sign! Love it. Great processing.

And the reshoot of the meerkat is a cracker as well. Great expression and super sharp shot. Nice one (y)
Cheers Paul, (y)
Not too sharp on the Meerkat this time? I barely touched it TBH.
its almost a SOOC save a crop & resize.

Well its hissing down again! Time to dust off the Macro lens, for a bit of Flora action
I captured these from my garden between the showers as you can see by the "drops"

Flora.jpg

My own little piece of wilderness, its been an on going project for a couple of years, or so, and it'll morph some more I've no doubt :)

Can you see what where its is yet? :D

yes i can see it, I am off to have a sit down don't know if I can cope with this on theme thing,
lovely macro of the passion flower and I am quite jealous of your pond even if it is infested with crocodiles

Three beautiful shots Mr.C. - the passion flower is very striking and has impact but I like the way the water swirls around the petals of the lily; the close crops work well. (think you should classify the second as a shot of a snap dragon).

Nice set of flower macros (y) and I knew you'd get a gob shot in there and that water lilly looks a bit like Sarlacc so two gobs.

<edit> removed the big, ugly Sarlacc image, felt it might be a bit too distracting </edit>

LOL very good Carl :D

Hmmm I hadn't thought of that, but yes, now you mention it, Chris, I see the likeness :D

Thanks for dropping by guys much appreciated

3 Great images for Flora hard to choose between the water lily and passion flower but I think the Passion Flower just edges it for me.

And you got a gob shot in too!:)

And you got a gob shot in too!:)
Of course I did, Mark, it was a struggle though I must admit :D

Nice set of three for the theme Chris, I really like passion flowers mine are just coming out at the mo
Cheers Chris, that's a last year plant, it went in early summer (last year) and by late summer it was producing fruit! I was most impressed!
Shame it tastes like s*** though :D

I love the water drops (y)
Thanks Paul, they were an act of nature, nothing to do with me :D

Cheers guys I appreciate you all dropping by

Super shots Cobra and on theme too :)
Thanks Susie :)

love your crocodile ...
A friend bought me that ages ago, and stuck in the pond unbeknown to me, ( it floats) as a joke, but actually I found that if I move it around from time to time,
"half hidden" it seems to stop the bloody Heron from actually getting "pond side" that has taken to sitting on the back fence.
Its either that or a 12 bore, but the neighbours get upset with that method :D

Great gob shot if the Gorilla Chris, I prefer it to the Wolverine shot. The B&W treatment works nicely.
But I absolutely love your re-shoot of Alexander Orlov, a beautiful shot (y)

Flora - I like the technical accomplishment of the macro shots and I tink they stand out over the wilderness shot, but flora is something I'm going to struggle with as flower shots don't really do it for me.

Same here TBH, I was just lucky that I just to wander down the garden, to "get something" . I'd have been hard pushed if I had to looking for "something"

and I tink they stand out over the wilderness shot,
That was just an excuse to shoe horn a gob shot (of sorts) that was all :D

Cheers Tim, I appreciate you stopping by

Nice triptych, I particularly like the lilly. And vicious-looking crock. (y)

I love the up close detail on the gorilla shot and the expressiveness in the eyes of the meerkat reshoot is wonderful. I think I might have liked his nose in focus, too but it's still my favourite of the three (y)

Thanks Emma :)

I think I might have liked his nose in focus, too
As I said above, it was wide open at 2.8 and almost in his (her?) face, aiming for the eye.
I knew it wouldn't please everyone though :)

And Stretch ...

Muppet 1 by Chris, on Flickr

And that's enough exercise for one day ..
And bathe...

Muppet 2 by Chris, on Flickr

And Preen...
( partial gob shot, while Muppet is squeezing his preen gland)

Muppet 3 by Chris, on Flickr

And relax...

Muppet 4 by Chris, on Flickr

And pose ...
Phew I'm worn out after all that activity!

Muppet 5 by Chris, on Flickr

Yes, the wing tip may be clipped but look at that acti9on with the widespread wing and the water movement created by those talons. Definitely activity. (I do like Muppet 5 best though for the colour and detail especially the highlights in the eye).

Its only a couple of mm as you can see, from the other flights, but I'm still annoyed with myself

Cheers Carl, I appreciate the kind words

Muppet 3 for me no idea why I just like it and it is taking part in some kind of bird activity would have been the first maybe but some muppet clipped it's wing :p

Really good set, my thoughts were the same as Carl's, #1 is spot on for the theme but #5 is a cracking photo
