Cobra, Rest in Peace

He is and always will be much missed but for the rest of us, life goes on.

I'd have probably left it there for a month or so.... that's just me...

For me it's end of an era, more so than when you guys took over as owners. The ownership change didn't make much difference to my TP life. Cobra was the one and only admin/mod I knew and dealt with during my time here. He was basically "always there".

Now I'll have to get to know new people :runaway:
 
I've not known Chris as long as most here, but the Chris I got to know was always up for a laugh and joke, I'm sure he'd want things to carry on in the best way possible.

He will be missed and TP won't be the same, but I agree with this.
 
Can't believe I only just realised what's happened, I've been diving on here in short bursts lately and not really looked at the threads and new posts.
Very sad news indeed, RIP Chris, and I'll be trying hard to get a nice shot for the 52 challenge this week in your memory.

Chris was quick to welcome me to Talkphotography when I joined and was always there to help if I needed it, I'm autistic, he was a true gent, friend and had a great sense of humour, I will miss him greatly. My sincere and depest condolences to all his family.

Not been on here for a while but absolutely gutted to read this.

I have just totted up the donations received by various means from TP members, and rounded it up a bit from existing funds, and will be contacting Chris' children to tell them we have collected £325 on his behalf, and asking how they would like it either forwarded or used in his name.
Thanks to all who donated, and for the many kind sentiments expressed.
 
Chris' family have advised that his funeral will be on 3rd May at 10:45, somewhere in the Milton Keynes/Newport Pagnell area. If anyone would like to attend, please let me know as they would like to know numbers before giving out details of the location. Sadly I can't make it having just moved to Northern Ireland, and I know that most TP members are scattered far and wide, but just in case anyone can and wants to, please PM me.

Wow I've only just seen this.
Such sad news, Chris was always the level head in many disagreements he'll be deeply missed.

You're not alone, I'm missing him terribly. He always had my back when I was modding. I never met him but considered him a dear friend. I've not said much about it all since we lost Chris but only now am I feeling like speaking about it. I still love this place but it's not quite the same now.

Agreed mate. I was not on here for a while and when I returned it wasn’t quite the same. He’ll be greatly missed.
 
It's a fact that we miss his ever-present guiding hand in the moderation, and his experience of and on the site.
Just like when the three of us took over the site, we promised then to do all we could to maintain the tone and ethos, and that is still the aim even now it's just two of us, but we have a couple of extra new mods who have loads of knowledge and experience of the site, which is a comfort blanket for all of us I think.

Thats one of the things of being on a forum. You get know and become friends with people, but you never (mostly) get to meet them in person.
It's a shame we dont do more meet up or events together. It wuld be nice to see some of the faces I interact with on here, chat about lens and have a pint.
 
This news suck, just back on here after being away for a long time, funnily enough on one of my searches I saw Cobra and thought it was cool he was still around, seems I was wrong, terrible news and he will be missed
 
Cobra Chris did organise some meetings in the past, but as with all such things, sometimes the turnout didn't cover the costs of arranging a venue on those occasions, so he gave up on them. The F&C crowd still occasionally do meet-ups, so there's no reason why it shouldn't take place more generally, it just needs people to step forward and kick it off somewhere, eg the London walks that have been done. But that's a whole different thread.

The problems are distances, family and work.
 
It certainly isn’t the same without Chris, I’m sure he would want things to continue without him but it’s impossible to fill the void he has left.

Im sure TP will move forward under the ownership of @lindsay and @sirch

Good to see people stepping up and helping with mod duties, you guys have huge shoes to fill, I’m sure it’s appreciated by everyone.
 
RIP Chris (aka Cobra). My sincere condolences to your family and all who new and interacted with you over the years.

I've not been on here for a few years but Chris was always a mainstay for me on this site, always here offering advice and the occasional telling off. RIP Cobra TP Towers is a lesser place without you. ( that's no reflection on the current Admin.)

I think it is a good thing for this thread to have a new post every now and then as a reminder to us all of how important Cobra was to us all, and it doesn't need to be just on anniversaries.
