Cobra 700AF-Mi Flash question

Hey folks. I grabed myself a Cobra 700AF-Mi Flash Gun for 50P at a carboot today, when I got home I noticed it is for Minolta, and wont fit onto the hotshoe on my Canon 450d.

Is there any form of adapter I can get that will make it fit, or should I just write off the massive investment I made?

Surprised it doesn't fit as I was always under the impression that all hot shoes are the same. Even if it did fit it wouldn't work as the firing pin(s) are probably in the wrong position.

Nah, it almost has the camera side of a hotshoe connector on it.. Never mind. Just 50p eh?
