I've got the last week of August/ first week of September free and am looking at going away for a week.

I really want to get some seasacapes so am looking at North Cornwall / Pembrokeshire. Any other ideas?

I mostly like the idea of getting some clifftop shots looking down onto the sea, but also want to get some beach shots.

Ideas would be much appreciated,

Thanks

T

Woolacomble, beaches, cliffs and rugged seascapes.

Ian

Isle of Wight - lots of variation in a small area

I would think Pembrokshire would just edge it over Cornwall for the shots you want, though to be honest either would be good for seascape shots

Blimey - where to start. I usually google local artists, or check out local galleries when I'm in the area for ideas
Straight off the top of my head for south Wales are:
Gower peninsular - Oxwich bay, three cliffs bay, Rhossilli,
There's some nice bits by Kidwelly (great castle) and a contry park on the beach by Pembrey, St Ishmaels (just along from Kidwelly)
Pembrokeshire - Dale, anywhere up the west coast such as little haven, newgate etc.

Or if you want a little more - check out Phillip Plisson's coastal pictures of the Normandy and Brittany coast

Another vote for Pembrokeshire. Just returned from the Marloes Peninsular and traversing the coastal path - stunning views as long as it's not blowing a gale as you will be
spending more time trying to stay upright rather than enjoying the scenery...!

Also came across the old coastguard cottages/lighthouse at St Anns Head that appear available to rent - great views and right on the coastal path.

I'll throw Northumberland into the mix too. Not so good for cliffs but you won't be disappointed with the beaches and coastal castles.

We stayed at the lighthouse last year for a family holiday, plus eldest kids partners. Very expensive, not sure I'd say it was worth all that money but certainly a memorable holiday.

Stunning views, the top of the lighthouse is a observation lounge where birds roost and flypast.

Stunning views, really pleasant coastal walks with the dog in the morning.
6:30am, about 1 mile along the coastal path

Best bit was it wore the kids and dog out:D

Blimey - just checked the price and it's gone up a fair bit since last year. £3325 for a week in the summer holidays!

The pool was cold and we had to get an electrician out, but they have it set quite cold so you could never stay in for long. The sauna is £1 coin operated on a meter. The inside walls had water running down the tower into the lounge/hallway during heavy rain and also into the entrance area, plus mice in the kitchen living under some of the units - great fun with a dog in the house!
Internet via a modem you had you plus a cable into but the cable was missing so I had to buy one - it wasn't wireless.
Little things like that means I think it was far too expensive and we complained afterwards. Nice to see they headed it by increasing the prices even further.

On the plus side, great views, brilliant sunsets, the place was very well decorated and equipped and it was certainly a very memorable holiday.

I really like the Woolacombe/Croyde area of North Devon, it is a bit quieter than Cornwall, with the bonus of not being quite so far to drive!

Come to South Wales....:D

We have the Heritage coast, gower and Pembrokeshire coast...

Even better we have a TP coastal meet at the end of august...

See link in sig...

Thanks for the info - wife was half considering a stay there with all the family when we next head that way - perhaps not anymore! Shame - as watching those (large) tankers coming in and out of Milford Haven was an added bonus..
Stayed in a great B&B in Marloes - local pub was within easy walking distance, although Griffin pub in Dale our favourite (great food) now it has a new publican.
Great part of the world - visited Skomer twice in one week as well. Whole area seems less commercial than Devon/Cornwall, and would definately return, hopefully with less windy (freezing!) conditions than last week in order to fully enjoy the coastal walks/photography.

Currently in a b&b in marloes :). Drove there today, skomer tomorrow. Just jumped onto their Internet to grab my email. Got here early so popped along to the lighthouse and into Dale for a drink and photos. Nice to be back if only for such a short while

Having extolled the wonders of the Pembrokeshire coast thought I had better back it up with some images...

Gateholm Island with Skokholm Island in the background. Surprised I managed anything usable that day - the picture of
tranquility masks the intense buffeting winds and attempts to stay upright, let alone aim the camera and keep it steady!

Just to prove it doesn't always rain in Wales! Sunset over St. David's from Little Haven
