Hi,
I run an online menswear store. At the moment we use my business partner for the photos, he's not really got a model build but it has ok so far.
Now we are looking to expand we really need to improve our photos. We considered using a model but as we are growing steadily we need to continually take a small amount of photos so it won't be feasilble to hire a model just for a few items.
I am looking at buying a mannequin but I'm worried it will look cheap, will it be possible to get images such as this (http://www.asos.com/images/inv/G/15/88/151862/DistressedCharcoal/image1l.jpg) using a mannequin?
 
My processing skills are far from great (in fact, really really far from great), but yes I think it would be quite easy if you could also use post-processing software like Photoshop. Without any software it might be hard, but probably still doable.
 
You got me shopping for clothes!!! arrrgh. (i deserve that £250 voucher)

I"m thinking if you spray painted the mannequin something odd like green or blue and then put it against a white background it would be really easy to then edit the pic as selecting the mannequin would be simple. Just my 2p.
 
Did you get my PM? Did that company sell anything that would suit you?

Get a chroma green background and paint the mannequin to match. Some simple photo editing and your clothes could appear anywhere, on a beach, a plain white or even in a forrest. the skies the limit

I have done similar with materal. Just buy a fairly big bit of some solid colour fabric (making sure the colours isnt in whatever you are photographing) I used purple. Then used it as a backgrop and wrapped it around the bits that were going to be "invisable". Didnt quite go to plan as we couldnt remove all the shadows so required a bit of photoshop work.
