Have been looking for a lens so can have ago at Macro, and have seen these lens sets on ebay, Can anyone tell me if they are any good, or should I start to save for a 50mm lens?
They come in a set consisting of a +1, +2, +4, and +10. They can be stacked to make different combo's. Would be grateful for some advice.:thankyou:

I had a set of those and only ever used the +4 that was the only one that was any good.

The +10 was only good at the very center, the outer edges were blurred, so my advice would be to go for just a +4.

People will tell you to stop wasting your money and buy a macro lens, but these screw ons are good for the price.

Yes, those sets are rubbish. But the Raynox is really quite good, and amazing for £40 (Amazon). Clip it on to the front of your kit lens at around 50mm.

For flowers and butterflies, get the DCR-150; for bugs and beetles, the DCR-250.

The Raynox is well worth a look but works best with a telephoto lens if you have one. I've had some pleasing results using a 300mm lens with a Raynox 150. It takes a bit of practice to get good results and you'll definitely need a tripod but they're great value. I'm now moving on to a sigma 180mm macro lens but I'd recommend the Raynox to anyone.

I've used these cheap close up lenses from Ebay and found they can be very good but not stacked.

But they are best if used on lenses with small filter sizes.

On a Canon 18-55mm kit lens they can be very good but when I tried a larger size on my 28-135mm lens then only the +1 dioptre was any good.

That one was taken with a 350D with +4 Dioptre close up lens on the 18-55mm kit lens.
