cloning tool help

I`ve recently bought photshop element 9 and whilst playing with the cloning tool have been struggling due to the way it takes the colour from a prefixed point, and as i more around the subject it then picks up colour that`s not right for the particular area as the collecting point goes over an area different from the one i`m cloning, i hope this makes sense!!

For removal of small bits I use the healing brush tool rather than clone what are you trying to do?

I`ve taken some pictures of my wife and she`s requested i make her face look smoother and blemish free ,who am i to meddle with perfection but she`s the boss

If you hold the CTRL key down, you can select where the clone tool picks up from. Change the selection point regularly to help prevent the 'obviously cloned' look.
