Cloning Software

Don't know whether thats the right term for it but looking for decent software to cut things out of photo grass blade, stone in wrong place etc. and to get rid of it. Its really for some old digital photos that I want to adjust the photo's which are sentimental. I have Nikon NX and I know the upgrade has NX2 which has a cloning tool. I thouight of downloading NX2 and giving that a try or is that more touch up and its something more basic that I need?
