I've been asked to do the age old problem of getting a family member into a group shot who wasn't there on the day.. I'm pretty inexperienced with the heavier types of editing, tending to stick to just optomising images, but anyhow! The thing I can't seem to grasp is that the part of the other picture I need to clone into the group shot has much bigger porprtions - in that, his head will take up about 1/4 of the other photo. What do I have to alter to reduce its apparent size? I'm guessing the dimensions of the photo, but not made any difference yet. I'm using Photoshop btw.

Thanks!

I take it you have cut and pasted the person into your new photo if so ...photoshop into edit then transform, go down to scale, then you can reduce the size (use the alt key while reducing the size that will keep it in perspective) ;)

Unless James' computer is different to mine he means the SHIFT key not the alt key

That'll be the easy bit. It's very difficult to achieve consistency of light and shadows when doing this. Good fun though.

Usually I would add a curves/levels and/or hue/sat adjustment layer (clipped to new layer) to make it blend better. I've done that a lot when pp-ing group shots - swapping heads is commonplace! :D
