Just checked my bank account and some buggers been spending my money - £37.35 on 16th August and then a whopping £801.95 the next day!!

Both purchases to Littlewoods (If it had been a camera store I would have thought I was drunk and buying stuff online late at night!!)

Fortunately bank have been pretty good and I should have a full refund in a couple of weeks.

First time that's happened and I have shopped online for years - so I can only put it down to last weeks trip to london!

:( At least your bank are being good. Any idea how your card was cloned? (If thats how they have managed to get the details)

Blimey. Who would steal someone's bank details and then spend the money on clothes?

Anyway, glad you're getting a refund!

 They obviously have no taste spending it in Littlewoods of all places

Glad you are being refunded, but it's quite scary that this can happen.

A woman?
I never let my card out of my sight when paying for anything.

happened to me a few years ago, they tried spending over a grand online on computer equipment, luckily there wasn't enough credit so it got refused....horrible feeling though.

I had some little oik fraudulently use a credit card a couple of years ago, 3 transactions in all, 2 were at a music shop in the states buying a guitar and a stand, the other was on an online casino.

The best part of that was that the bet actually won and they deposited 38 usd onto my card :) MBNA wouldn't let me keep that though........still, they did refund the other monies so I can't really complain.

I work for a bank and see this kind of stuff too often :(

You should tell your bank that you need this money to pay for bills etc and fingers crossed, more often than not, they will give you your money back there and then untill the situation is resolved and then adjust your account if needed. ;) Worth a shot

Same thing happened to my mother 3 years or so ago, someone bought a case of wine online, a years sky subscription?? amongst other things. The bank (LTSB) were great about it, she got all the money back and actually closed the account completely and swapped to a new one for safetys sake.

This happened to me earlier in the year, still no idea how they got the details.

took $500 from the account to some online gambling site, I did get all the money back in the end though just a pile of hassle having to get the police etc involved.

Bad show for you Nigel ... b'stards are definitely out there ... :suspect:

I dread this happening to me 'cos I am a real b****r for NOT checking my accounts regularly ... ... or at all even ...

Glad it worked out and your bank were good enough to cough up the readies though ...

Still means the ****** crims get away with it mostly ... ... which is why it continues to grow worryingly I suppose ... :suspect:

:p

I check all my accounts online pretty much daily. I have a spreadsheet of balances and upcoming debits etc, so I know pretty much what to expect when I log on.

The fact that I'm tighter than cramp helps too :D

My online passwords are all based on different algorithms, rather than an easy to guess password, and my cards never go out of my sight (unless I drop it on the kerb when getting in my car, and can't find it for about 6 hours afterwards :D).

Not to say it won't ever happen to me, just that I can only do so much to limit the chances of course. Mind you, if anyone did ever get hold of my cards, theyd have a shock when they come to spend...there aint much there to spend :D

I never let my card out of my sight either but i was cloned along with 150 other people from around where i live It was a petrol station on Manchester Rd in Bolton what he was doing was saying the card didnt work first time and he rubbed it on his jacket and in the inside pocket he had a scanner and in the ceiling was a small camera above the key pad, I was taken for £500 in New York bank payed up without a problem.

So basicly they can do it in front of your face.

Damn thats bloody clever. Normally when I put my pin in, I try and do it very very quickly to stop anyone watching (Doesnt stop recordings though), and try and cover it...

Thats clever though, I've had my card rubbed before now, normally by staff at our local Asda though.

Have the garage staff been caught and prosecuted?

We have a Polish guy in our office and he brought me his Visa statement to look at the other month. He wasn't sure why there were debits for airline tickets to the US and back and also deductions for two return flights to Germany. He came straight from Poland at the turn of the new year and hasn't been out of the UK since.

I told him to call the credit firm and get the card stopped, between him getting the statement and calling the visa card place, a load more flights were booked on his card. Not sure what happened to be honest, I forgot about it until I read this thread. I'll have to go and ask him when he comes back in........
