Cleaning Question!!

Hey everyone, my D1X (Yes I know its old) the ring on the camera, where the lens mounts is in clean grit free condition, how can i do the same on my other bodies? Thanks.

DON't sand/polish them with anything abrasive. They are actually plated brass. I'd say that if there's nothing wrong, then don't fix it.

Thanks for your response, just wandering how the older camera is so clean and the newer ones are so dirty.
