Hi everyone,

The mirrors inside my camera have some sort of dust on them. I tired cleaning it with a very soft cloth but that didn't properly work. It cleaned some of it off but there's still a little dust there. What could I use to clean it?

Thanks,
Steven

I use either a blower or my arctic butterfly.
'sposed to be for sensor cleaning, but it works great on mirrors.

I've not had to do it but every post I've seen about cleaning mirrors says be very gentle as the mirror is delicate and affects the auto focus.,

step away from the mirror!
they are surface silvered
once it's gone it's gone
do yourself a favour and DO NOT TOUCH IT
if a blower don't fix it get professional help
it'll be cheaper in the long run

I suppose I could test the theory to prove it but I very much doubt you would see dust on a mirror as it is never going to be in focus.

You will see dust on the ground glass screen that the image is projected on to at the top of the camera. If a blower does not shift it then learn to live with it - it will only come back again in any case.

:agree:
dust on the mirror should be well out of focus
and certainly won't appear on the image

you can see dust on the focus screen
but again it won't appear in the image

Dust on the mirror won't appear because the final image isn't taken through the mirror. It flips out the way when you press the shutter leaving a nice clear path through to your sensor.

I read that you shouldn't use your arctic butterfly for mirror cleaning - apparently its because the grease which lubricates the mirror hinges can get on the butterfly's bristles...

... and then smears the sensor next time you clean that.

At the mo I just put up with a slightly dirty mirror but if it gets worse I'll have a go with the blower.
