Why is it your not to use fabric softener when cleaning lens cloths
 
Fabric conditioner enters the was on last rinse so it leaves a softening residue on the fabric. A bit like when you moisturise your hands and then touch something.
 
Enters the wash
 
I prefer a lens pen to cloths far less likely to cause any cleaning marks.
 
Yeh best use a proper lens pen. I use the cloths to clean outer casing only.
 
I tend to clean mine in oxy=clean gets rid of all the grease
