When I use a lens pens I follow a circular motion starting from the center and working my way out and find that I get streaks on the glass. When I fog them up using my breath and gently wipe them with a cloth, they get fairly clean but never back to the pristine condition that they come in out-of-the-box. I see tiny specks on on the surface that's impossible to remove, though none appear to affect image quality.

I haven't used lens solution and I'm reticent to over-clean. I was just wondering what most people use here.

Thanks.

your better off going to a opticians and buying a decent lens cleaning cloth ,i recommend the beige coloured kodak ones ,a touch of breath and a wipe with one cleans glass extremely well .i carry several in various places so i always have one handy .

Lens pen - usually works very well for me - optical cloth and breath, and isopropyl alcohol for any stubborn marks. This is the main component in most lens cleaning solutions anyway, and it's cheaper to just buy it from a pharmacy.
