Yes
Have a berghaus jacket. Few years old now, was about £90 when I bought it. Not a pac-lite type, but has a lining and a roll up wired hood etc and I think a fleece can be zipped into it although I never have.

I know I can get "stuff" for washing it. But whats best for reproofing it? Stuff you put in the washing machine with it or stuff you spray on after its been washed and dried?

Nikwax is the brand to go for for whatever I need?

Thanks

Washing machine route.

I wash my Paramo and Country Innovation jackets with Nikwax Tech Wash then immediately afterwards with Nikwax TX Direct.

Tumble dry

Excellent results.

Cheers!

My problem is I haven't got a tumble dryer. Could chuck it in a poly bag and nip to a launderette after washing though I guess. Will those two products work on any type of waterproof jacket?

How many times have you washed it?

If its just the first time it should be ok, I believe you should avoid BIO washing powder and liquids and just use 30 degress

This! Nikwax is all you need.

Whatever you do don't fabric conditioner on it.

Pretty sure that last time I washed and reproofed a coat, the NikWax kit came with the soap and reproofer shrink wrapped together. Followed the instructions and hey! Presto! a clean, waterproof coat.

BIO liquids are the worst as it digests the coatings

All of these!
Been washing my very expensive Paramo gear with Nikwax for as long as I can remember, and several other makes before that too.
IMO, it's the best you can get for outdoor waterproofs and indeed any outdoor gear that needs washing.
Tumble dry on a low heat setting if you can, this 'activates' the proofing, outdoor drying works too, but not in the present weather conditions!

The Nikwax FAQ:

Is tumble drying mandatory?
No. The performance of all Nikwax treatments is excellent with air drying.
