What's the best method for cleaning an LCD monitor screen?

Thanks.

I have a glossy screen on my Toshiba laptop which shows every mark, best method I found was to simply use a damp tissue.

I use Mr Muscle glass cleaner and some kitchen roll. Very high tech :D

A tissue is quite rough and scratchy, so a soft cloth is better. Let the monitor cool down first, though. I've used the sachet wipes you get with KFC's :)

"Rough and scratchy":eek::eek: what kind of tissues are you using Marky,

If it is a matt screen it is quite easy to get it "looking clean" but on my gloss screen I at first tried different glass cleaners including the type you get at the opticians, they all left smears. I then :rules: and it advised using nothing else but a damp cloth.
Marky there is a teeny bit of truth in what you say, if you use a cheap tissue it is probably made from recycled paper and there is a risk of grit etc. I have never had any problems using a good quality tissue. You do of course have to use light pressure only.

Mal.

use newspaper with glass cleaner it stops smearing:) not sure its much use for lcds though

Yep used this for years and its the best, no smears and kitchen towel won't mark the screen.

Lick it clean, seriously...

;)

For both LCD and CRT's I have found that a good quality chamois leather dampened works beautifully every time.

Oh, if using good tissues, DONT use the ones with balm in them...I know someone that did, his screen is still smeared with some very strange marks :bonk:

Petrol, half a gallon should be enough. Pour it all over the screen and just light it. It saves having to wipe it.

Woops what am I saying, water with a VERY small amount of liquid soap in it to break down the grease on a soft cloth, but not much of it.

You should be careful of some hand wipes with alcohol in them they can damage some LCD coatings.

Kitchen roll, folded, and wet with tap water, squeezed out.

Works a treat on my monitor.

I have some wipes, but they smear my monitor, but work wonders on my LCD TV.
