Yes
Have I Got News For You is currently on the BBC, brand new program discussing this weeks news and it's being presented by Jeremy Clarkson.

His absence from the BBC didn't last that long, and he's even managed to get Amazon Prime mentioned 3 or 4 times.

He had also been pretty funny too, one of the better presenters on HIGNFY, so I suppose we'll done to the BBC for getting sensible.

I don't know what they were on about though, it sounds like the Prime Minister has taken up farming and has pigs and poultry on the farm :p.

Why is it odd?
He wasn't fired from the BBC, his contract for Top Gear simply wasn't renewed.
It's quite simple.

Richard Osman: "Are you going to punch me?"

JC: *motions to get up*

Richard Osman: "You can try if you want to."

JC: *sits back down*

:D

Osman's a clever guy and was on his case all the way through, it was very funny.

I thought the show was hard going. They seemed to want to mention his past and future but didn't quite know how to do it so they talked about anything else. Disappointing.

Do you generally dislike what Clarkson does?

I thought it was one of the better HIGNFY of the recent past, they handled all the stories in a really funny way, no spite or bitterness, even the Corbyn segment was less "nasty" than expected.

I thought he was surprisingly bad at reading his lines of the autocue. Bring back Angus Deayton, it has gone downhill ever since they sacked him. They keep trying different people but just can't find another Deayton.

Oh, I don't know, Jack Dee aint bad.

Jack Dee is good but he is needed on ISIHAC! Too often you get the same few people popping up everywhere.

That is true, Deayton was the master, but it seems he has enemies very high up and his transgressions will never be forgiven. I was comparing Clarkson against the others in the last 2 seasons, people like Daniel Radcliffe, Martin Clunes, Victoria Coren, Jo Brand, Robert Peston.

I believe it was Hislop and Merton who drove Deayton out rather than the "high-ups", the viewers wanted him to carry on.
I was surprised at Ribert Peston being very fluent when reading off the autocue whereas he has the most irritating hesitant delivery when doing his reporting - not taking away the quality of his reporting. The people you quote are all good, I guess I was somewhat flogging a dead horse with bringing Deayton up agai.

I wasn't that keen on Deayton tbh, but ok at the beginning I suppose, but a bit samey before the end.
I do like Martin Clunes, Victoria Coren, Frank Skinner & Jo Brand when they host, but certainly one of my favourite's is Kirsty Young.

The team captains (arguably correctly) were of the opinion it'd be wrong to take the mickey out of people every week who were only doing the same as 'them'. You can't partake in satire from a hotel bedroom surrounded by Coke and hookers, the position is untenable.

I liked him, but if they'd let him carry on, the concept would have descended to farce.

It's almost like he's part of the elite who's arse the BBC has to kiss in order to maintain its charter... Rather than it actually being a den of PC lefties and paedos who tried for years to get rid of him. ;)

Not that any of us might have been saying this all along. :p

Though I'm not too sure one can be a P**** sympathiser and politically correct, but the papers seem to have convinced us so it's obviously true.

.

so coke and hookers is out but punching your producer in a row about sandwiches (or whatever) is okay ?

If JC had been a regular host of HIGNIFY they'd have sacked him for what he did.

sure, but if the position on deaton is - you can't take the p*** if you yourself aren't whiter than white (possibly a bad choice of metaphor given the amount of snow white in the deaton case) then clarkson isn't a suitable host to take the p*** out of people either.

Personally i'd say that HIGNFY has run its course - it was original and funny when it first aired, but its now like the much loved, but dribbling old arthritic sheepdog which is crying out to be taken behind the nearest barn with the 12 bore

osman was a dick, his jokes about clarkson were mostly unfunny and OTT.

Well it had to happen, agreeing with you about something!!:p

However yes, I thought Osman let himself down rather badly, he is a very clever and funny guy but his insistence on only cracking jokes at Clarksons expense wore thin very quickly [with the caveat that it may have been edited to look that way]. Everyone else handled it well and was generally quite amusing.

I know not everyone finds the same things funny, that would be terrible, but Osman went down a storm on Twitter.

Even the Torygraph picked up on the buzz.

Have I Got News For You: Twitter loved Richard Osman, but Jeremy Clarkson fell flat

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/...clarkson-have-i-got-news-for-you-twitter.html

The Telegraph seems to have something against the (Sun and Times) writer Clarkson for some time, not sure why ;).

It's a strange story, the headline seems to correspond to half the listed tweets, while other tweets are the opposite.

From the article:

Worst ever episode of hignfy. Richard Osman a disgrace. Obvious programme has run it's course.

9:36 PM - 2 Oct 2015

I like Richard Osman but the constant digs at Jeremy seemed a little bit overkill and didn't help the atmosphere. #HIGNFY has seen better.

9:38 PM - 2 Oct 2015

@richardosman You demeaned yourself with your Clarkson baiting. You're surely above that & it wasn't even funny. #HIGNFY
9:39pm - 2 Oct 15

I was following the #hignfy hashtag while the programme was on (Twitter's great for that, and #bbcqt too) and believe me, 90%+ of the comments were pro Osman.

People were really enjoying seeing Clarkson getting a hard time.

I laughed at the first one I heard (re ITV2), but I did think Osman was beating a dead horse when he continued.

I thought Brian Blessed was a brilliant host...Angus Deaton was so up his own derriere...
