Yes
OK, I know it is a bad time for most of us, but how many of you have booked your place..?
I have paid up, so that might put some of you off, but it would be good to know who is coming along... !
I am not sure yet how fit I will be, as I may be about to have an operation on my ankle, but I might try to sort out a little trip out to my place (only MIGHT) just to show you all how messy our house is, and what a lovely little Spanish village can look like...
Anyway, hope to see some of the faces I met at the Brighton workshop, as you all seemed to be a really nice bunch, and maybe some new faces..... - better be pretty though...

Steve

Would love to come Steve and catch up with things, but wouldn't be able to make it. So have fun and hope the op goes well. Probably next time :)

Had a great time meeting eveyone last time and pity i can't make it to see new or old faces.

By the way Olivia gave birth to a baby boy :)

Hey Alan (ps2user) - Congratulations ! - how is Olivia, and what about the boy -is he well, does he have a name..??
As for seeing old faces - surely mine is not that old...?

Christine - we will need to find out what CJ has to say, as I am nothing but a humble servant, but at the last one, we learnt loads - about composition, metering, seeing light, and I learnt that keeping it simple helps, plus lots of other stuff - really concise answer, eh ? I do know that CJ wants to go over some of the metering and using light stuff, but will be taking it further.

So, any one else, or is it going to be an intimate event with me, CJ and only one or two others - better leave your hubby behind CJ !! (bring the whip though..)

So, no one else coming then ??
I thought it sounded like there was plenty of people interested - is it just 'cos christmas oi close, or have you all changed your minds ?

Hmmm - bringing this back up to the top to see if it was missed, but so far it isn't looking good - come on, any of you going to sign up or what..?

Im still very much planning on coming.

I cant pay any money at the moment, which is why I havnt confirmed my booking. I am so poor right now. Not getting the bonus I was hoping for until our year end (thought it was going to be in my bank for xmas), so my over spending on xmas pressies has tied my hands a bit.

Steve, can you tell me what the weather is expected to be like please....my gf wants to know.

cheers

Will be throwing some readies at CJ as soon as I can.

Full auto - it might be worth letting CJ know, as given the limited response, it might not be worth her while, as she will need to book the hotel and her flights pretty quick, and unless she gets enough confirmed bookings, she will loose out...

As for the weather - its not easy to say, as it is fairly changeable at that time, but if the sun shines, it can be around 20 degrees, and in the sun, you can sunbathe (I did a couple of days ago, despite it only being 7 degrees - the sun is strong and warm !)
However, it can be wet at any time of year, which translates as miserable, like all sunshine holiday resorts and the wind can pick up making it bracing..........
Whatever, it is much nicer than the UK at most times of year !

Steve

Hi Steve,

I'm still very much hoping to come along to this. However, potentially I will have some major things happening at work in the first quarter on 2008 which will need me to be around. I'm afraid I simply won't know for definate until we kick off 2008

Sorry Steve,

I've done the math and can't stretch my budget.

Hope it still goes ahead.

I will email CJ now...

also, just been told that my Gran's cousin (if someone can tell me what relation that would make me, feel free) lives in Mojacar, and some family friends have a rental property in Puerto Del Rey, which is close.

So I will find out how big it is, and whether it could be shared.

Hi Full Auto

Puerto del Rey is probably fractionally closer than Mojacar (Mohacka) unless the apartment is on the east side of the town.
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=Moj...19369,-1.8221&spn=0.033981,0.080338&z=14&om=1
Mojacar and Garrucha have more night life than Puerto Rey although the Commercial Center there has a cyber cafe and a terrace bar/restaurante (English)

The hotel Steve has suggested has a great Chinese restaurant to the south of it (if it is the one I think it is).

It is possible, if you are so inclined, to go down to the beach and walk from Puerto Rey to Garrucha - the river shown on the map is generally dry or a trickle and once you are on the west side of it there is a lovely promenade all the way through to Mojacar (there are bits of it to the east along Vera Playa)

coincidently my mum has already recommended that exact same walk to me this morning :)

Thanks for all the info. Im hoping I will be able to stay at the flat for mates rates, so I should save some money.

Just checking in after that last of my mad holiday client rush. I have two more deliveries to make today, then I'm all done. At last!

Good to hear there are still some who are looking into attending. I know it's a tough time of year to plan trips and such. I'd just ask that anyone still interested in attending please drop me a line. As Steve has mentioned, it's difficult to know whether to continue with plan for the workshop without knowing how many are hoping to attend.

- CJ

Just bringing this back to the top - as another member here has mentioned, CJ seems not to be posting or answering emails at present, so she may well be busy, but I hope that al is well and going ahead as I have another person to add to the list of people wanting to attend..

Hey, Steve, I'm alive, really. Sorry if I've been a bit absent. Yes, I had a ton of potential jobs and opportunities all come in at once, and I'm trying to keep all the plates spinning. Estimates and proposals, so much fun.

Expect a letter out to all who have expressed interest tomorrow. I'm crossing my fingers for this one, but do really need those who have pre-registered to let me know whether they do or don't plan to attend. Without that piece of information, planning is an impossibility.

Back in touch shortly -

- CJ

Hi CJ - I guessed something was going on in your life..!
My, how much fun is estimating...........
Well, I have a friend who is very keen, and there is a TP member who has mentioned to me that he and another might, so lets hope that some more response is forthcoming...!

Me and my dad for definite please CJ. I sorted the old git out with a 40D for xmas, its his first dslr, but he has had digitals, slrs, and he has a big Bronica type thing that hes had for ages, so he knows quite a bit about photography. Im hoping he can get to grips with all the controls of the 40D before the workshop. Im sure he will be fine.

Ive emailed/pm'd you about my financial issues, Im hoping we can come to an arrangement.

One last try by me to bring some interest to this workshop..
The date - 10th March, the place - Southern Spain - close to Mojacar, Almeria. The cost - roughly £350 for the workshop - hotel, food, flights etc up to you.
3 days of tuition by CJ, with a day off inbetween each day, so plenty of time to discover how lovely this area can be, to be able to absorb the information, and to have a holiday while learning loads about available light portraiture and more !
Anyone wanting to find out more had better ask CJNicolai (a PM will reach her) but unless we can muster up some more people, it may not happen, so please let her know if you are interested, and as a bonus - all of you who do come will get to meet me, in the flesh !

and as a bonus - all of you who do come will get to meet me, in the flesh !

ehem,

and me! :woot:

Hmm, I think we should just stick to advertising CJ's presence, steve

Pardon - Have you ever met me....??
I was once the centre spread in Dental Weekly and starred in Watch with Mother at the age of 4, so don't be too quick to put my charm and appeal to people of all types down..

..a quick peek at some of my previous posts or gallery might just give the game away and reveal that you may have a point full-auto..

Damn ... I would have loved to have made this trip but March is a definitive impossibility for me ... shame 'cos I  Spain and need to broaden my 'tog skills ...

But I hope you guys have a great time and learn loads from CJ ...

In any event I fear I do not fully fit SIS's criteria of being 'pretty' enough ...

:p

 ... PRETTY I am not ... ... ruggedly handsome in an ugly sort of way that my wife (and the dog) loves is probably a bit closer ... ;)

For the dog it's all about the smell :D

lmao

Thats very impressive Steve.

I was clearly too hasty to pass judgement.

I fear that a lot of people may be put off coming because they feel intimidated by your fame and good looks.

Im not, as I am gorgeous, in a deluded sort of way

At last. The sort of respect I deserve. However, I shall try to humour and be kind to those of a lower status than me, even though 3 days with your sort is asking a lot of any superhuman.

so humble!

you really are a prince among men.

you cant tell from my posts, but Im actually quite sarcastic in real life.

lol

ok, real is a bit strong.

surreal life then.

you know, go to work to earn money to buy expensive camera equipment that I cant use properly.
