Hey all, after some advice.

I have a CISS from CityInkExpress installed on my Canon IX4000. It has worked fine until recently when it decided to stop feeding ink into the cartridges from the reservoir. Nothing has been done to cause this to happen, no changes to the printer/position anything.

I have tried to re-pressure the lines by extracting air but it is not working. I have contacted CIE but yet to hear back from them.

Has anyone else encountered this and do you have any advice?

Chances are if you don't use it a lot is that the ink has dried in the tubes. If it has then your pretty much up the creek without a paddle.
However you can buy the multi silicon tube seperate on ebay, can't remember where I got mine for my old R300 but it fixed mine. You can get the little right angled tubes as well.
If you think it's the head then go to printheadhospital.com and get some of their magic flushing liquid, it's superb and saved my 9000mk2 head after I'd left the printer unused for months.

It hasn't been unused though Chris, it actually stopped working during an intense period of use. I print 10 or so A3's a week with times that's over 100 so it is never left unused. It doesn't appear that the ink has dried as it can still be moved in the tubes.

The print heads I think will be OK also as I have not had it very long (a few months). I wouldn't expect them to be worn out so soon.

I appreciate your input though, I should have included more information in the OP.
 
I used to use a CISS on my old Epson 1290s. The height of the ink tanks was fairly critical.

If they were the same level as printer base it used to flood slightly, found they needed to be 1" lower than printer.

I know your's has been working but it could be worth lifting the tanks slightly because it does sound like ink starvation.

Interesting my newly installed CISS system occassionally drops blotches on the print (not always maybe 1 in 4) sounds like its worth raising the printer slightly?
 
they need to be below the level of the heads IIRC

I have had no such problems with my fotospeed CIS

It's worth a try Dave, cheap easy fix if it works.

I still have the 4" deep plaz board shelf I screwed to the side of my desk for the purpose.

I've just measured it and it is 2" below the desktop.
 
lifted it about an inch, first print off was perfect, it maybe that if the nozzles are below the ink level it may syphon through.........
 
Dave I have a CISS fitted to my Canon IP 4600 from the same supplier as yours and never had a problem

MY CISS has a roller fixed to the side of it which you push down to cut off the supply of ink have you checked to see if this been moved and now has stopped supply to the printhead
