Hi,

I just received a HOYA 62mm circular polariser for my 450D with Tamron lens. When I try to take pictures with it, I set the shutter speed to something like 1/400, and when focusing in the viewfinder, the aperture value flashes, and won't take the picture. As soon as I remove the polariser, this problem is fixed, and I can take the picture with 1/400 shutter speed.

So why does the camera need slower shutter speeds with the polariser on?

Thanks,
Matt

I was trying to use it about an hour ago. The sky is grey and lighting is pretty bad. Will I still have the same problem when taking a landscape in the bright sun of midday, with blue skies?

I think I need a tripod..

I would doubt it, I'm sure you'll be fine, I use mine all the time outside and can't remember having any problems using it hand held. Just remeber it's on when the light goes or it gets dark ;)

How about just switching to Apt priority:)
Dean:)

i always tend to shoot landscapes on tripods anyway but im sure i could get away without one for half the shots.
