We live under the flightpath in and out of Glasgow airport, so hearing jets overhead isn't unusual. I heard one this morning though that sounded different to the big jets that normally go over. Sometimes, these can be fighters or other light jets out of Prestwick airport as it's used quite extensively by Allied military aircraft.

I checked Flightradar to see if I could tell what it was as I have a thing about planes and found that this one seems to be a corporate jet out of Glasgow. It's gone over several times now.

Maybe someone on a jolly?

Looks like a very specific pattern. Maybe a training flight or some sort of mapping? Aerial survey of the wind turbines?

Now that it could well be. Until not long ago, it was the biggest onshore windfarm in Europe.
 
VOR callsigns are used by Flight Calibration Services Ltd so it's probably checking/surveying the navigational aids in the area
