Hello

Im putting together a bit of studio on a budget and i was thinking....

Rather than buy white and black backdrops could i just use a chromakey backdrop and use the software to fill in white or black as required and still have all the benefits that chromakey offers?

I can see if may be a little different for low key work, but for the venture style blown background would it give a similar result?

Cheers Neil

yes, but it'll be a bitch to do well, especially if you have limited space. White and black are very easy to light, whereas chroma is more difficult, limits colours of clothes, can reflect green back onto the subject etc.

paper's 4 rolls for £110 posted :) and lush dark grey is underrated :)

With a big enough space you can do white and black back grounds with just a roll of white seamless.

I'd go with a standard background. Chromakey is fine if you want to put different images as a background . I not sure how well it would work with white or other colours. Plus if you have a small studio you run the risk of the background reflecting onto your subject, which with hair would be a real pain to retouch

However here's a link to a plug in that may help, not tried it myself but you may find it useful

Morco supply a range of Colourama background papers including including Chroma Green and Chroma Blue
