Yes
Do you have one near you?
I notice Pete has been taking shots of one near him in Liverpool, and we have one in Manchester too.

Do any of you like going to them? I always plan on going every year, but forget, and only manage a quick walkthrough on my way past. And by the time I remember to go for a proper look round, it finishes.

Not this year though, I plan to take my wife and kids this week, wrap up warm, have a lovely walk round, indulge in a pancake or two :D, and a nice glass of mulled wine

I just love the feel of the European christmas markets.....with a brass band playing, gets me right in the mood for christmas.

Yes, yes we do.
I love them! Spent muchos time at ours this year, and even got chatting lots to the tender of one stall, then went for coffee with them later in the day - lovely people :)

Going to a medieval one later (if weather improves) then a Dickensian festival/market next week :) They really do love their markets round here!

Like Marcel I've always missed them and planned ahead this year to really visit it. Its smaller than I though but still fun. Everytime I'm in Liverpool I plan to visit it and get more shots. I figure the more I'm there the more relaxed people will be, and the more relaxed I will be too :)

Where is that one at? And when?

Medieval one was in Skipton (just got back, parking is awfull, market is worse!)

The Dikensian one is in Grassington
Dickensian Festivities
For the three Saturdays before Christmas, Grassington is transported back to the time of Dickens. See the village square and streets transformed into a traditional market with people dressed in period costume.

Enjoy the musicians, dancers, street entertainers and exhibitions of traditional country crafts. Experience the pleasure of doing your own Christmas shopping in an atmosphere unlike any other!

2006 Dates: Saturday 2, 9, 16 December.

Went to it last year, or year before, cant remember....anyway it is good. Eveyone is dressed up and they do a torch lit "Mary on a donkey looking for a room in the inn" thingy. It really is good, but its also bloody dark!

Will post some pics (thought they are poor) incase anyone else in the area fancies it.

Mr THX - I went to the Lincoln one once, it was madness - never seen so many people. We ended up in a flow of people at one stage that we couldnt get out of and missed half the stalls.

There are Victorian Shopping evenings at Maldon in Essex - I THINK this Thursday and next but best check to be sure. I know Mum and Dad are planning on going, but I won't make it from work in time. :(

LOL....... could be a good excuse for loosing the wife there  :woot:

Have absolutely no idea about local ones, but have seen one advertised in Bruges that I wouldn't mind going to - £35 return on an organised coach trip so might go along. Some beautiful scenery in Bruges too :)

there was a large xmas market held at portsmouths old dock yard today, i had tickets but dicided not to go last minute cause weather was REALLY bad, a couple of members of my family said that it was really good and they had a great time, but no pics im affraid...

I love Christmas markets! Working for Eurostar I'm very lucky, have been to Lille, Bruges, Cologne and Aachen markets in the past few years. Going to the Bruxelles one this Thursday for the day.

What's the Bruges one like Ben?

I've been to Koln, Aachen, Nurnberg, and Frankfurt. Must say that Nurnberg was the nicest although Frankfurt was a close second.

Looks like I'm visiting the Manchester one sometime soon as they have a store selling Sarsaparilla which I'm trying to hunt down for my Dad. So I might as well make an afternoon of it.

Oooh Sasparilla. There's a shop in Oldham that make it, bottle it, and sell it, all themselves. Can't remember the name but I'll dig it out if you want mate. I got a bottle of it when I was working for the beeb and they came to visit the bus...but I drank it :D
