Christmas - How Much!?

Nothing, Nil, Nada etc.

Stopped buying pressies a couple of years ago. Now get no hassle roaming around the shops trying to buy the "right" pressie for each person.

Also we asked the family not to buy us anything.

Cos we are not tight the equivalent amount of cash that we would have spent goes to charity instead.

my wife and kids work/help out in the family business, the wife got a rolex, sons off to aus for 3 weeks before he goes back to uni, daughter got a lomography lens, some filters+ bits and bobs..........does that make me a bad person

PS, the missus does 90 hours a week...............

We (my wife and I) are just fed up of Christmas and how commercial it all is. The kids have more toys than they can ever play with, and that was before Christmas.. now we need a seperate house to store them. A few months and they go off to the charity shop, stupid. But people refuse to stop buying them presents.

All in we spent £2000, on the kids, the extended family (very large) and clothes etc.. I don't know why, really!

we didnt spend much this year at all, £20 each for the 5 presents we buy, as other people have said if we want something and we have the money all year round we buy what we want so me and my GF decided to just buy our own presents, we wanted to get something useful for everyone which i think we managed to do.

next year im trying to get the family to do a £5 max limit and make it themed, something a bit silly for a laugh.

its also daft that a week after christmas you can get the same thing for half the price or less, ive considered suggesting we do the present giving on New years day/eve and just had food on christmas day, that way all shopping can be done in the sales!
