The online Daily Mail "hang em high" mob who would normally be happy to see all offenders locked away on bread and water are all taking the "stupid judge" got it all wrong and the sentences are OTT - victimless crimes etc.
The perverting of the course of justice is a very serious crime and they could have been given longer terms. Thinking wider - anyone of us could also face the collusion by others to 'fit you up' for a crime and by drawing in others we suddenly have an innocent person facing loss of job and home etc through direct conspiracy of others with the perversion of judtice.
The mere act of "taking the oath" to tell the truth is in itself part of the justice and the challenge is on the prosecution to prove guilt. The sudden guilty plea was in essence the means to get a tariff reduction as the case was so easy to prove despite the nonsense of the trial that collapsed. After all the ex-wife was on a mission to rip Huhne's heart out and throw it, still beating, up the street. She certainly tore her own situation down with her "he made me do it" defence!!! Stupidity!
Given that Huhne fought his initial defence on the case on "wasn't me governor" tactic and lied consistently, once his now apparent agreement with his then wife was admitted by her, they both showed utter contempt for a system that regulates justice in dealing with all equally. It may not be perfect but it is the very system that is used in democracies across the world and hard fought all the way back to Magna Carter.
These two arrogant millionaires conspired to p**s on all of us who obey the law and expect justice to protect us.
Whilst it is 'only 8 months' my outrage is that is a very light sentence, I accept that those tasked with handing out justice know better than I.
Time to either fight to keep this law or get it changed! Guess where my thoughts lie.

I do find it ironic that those that want prisoners banged up 23 hours a day with bread and water say its too harsh, while the liberals who normally make excuses and always want 2nd/3rd/4th chances give, are saying its not harsh enough!

Personally I think she got her revenge, he has lost everything that was important, his power and prestige, I bet becoming a cabinet Minister was way beyond his expectations (as a LibDem it would have been unfathomable before the last election).

Yes, but he will have no power or real prestige (something all politicians crave). Now he is just another "member" of the failed crooked politicians club, along with Aiken and Hamilton (and the others who faded into obscurity).
