Have recently closed down my business and find I have time on my hands and thought I would fill it with doing a photography course. I just want it to help my photography- not to help e become a pro!

I have looked at courses on oca - which I think I prefer- and the one with the photography institute.

Does anyone have any experience with either of these and if you were me which would you choose?

Might be better putting your location Gerry, someone might know something local to you.
Thats about all I can help with

I'm in Glasgow but would probably prefer online course

Me and a whole bunch of others are doing courses with the oca. I'm finding it good and insightful so far, so it could be worth you looking into it a bit more.

If you stick with it long enough you will get a recognised qualification too even if you don't stick with it for the whole degree.

I'd love to do this course but I approached student finance to apply and as I already have a BSC hons in another subject (which was entirely self funded) I am not eligible for student finance which I find very annoying. As tge course is now £2700 a year after the fee hike its not an option to fund without support. I have therefore thought I'd opt for the second best alternative which seems to be recommended by many on here which is the institute of professional photography course which costs around £400. Although you get some kind of diploma it's not like the OCA course.

Was it the degree course you were looking to do? There is one oca course that is about 650

I've not done it, but at those prices I imagine the content will probably be equivalent to a couple of modules from the oca.

As far as I know, the diploma isn't a nationally recognised qualification, more of an in house diploma.

Go to your local college or uni and do a Level 2 or Level 3 Adult Photography course?
