I’m looking at doing some panorama shots and was wanting some advice on the best head to get, not really looking at spending £300 + for a really expensive one more like £ 100/150 while I learn
That's not a true panoramic head. A true panoramic head allows rotation around the lens's focal node axis. All that cheaper one does is allow precise steps, but it's still rotating around the tripod bush, not the lens focal node.
A thread with one reply in it... and that reply is just some bloke saying he prefers ball heads over pan heads.. not massively helpful. Neither of those are true panoramic heads. A true panoramic head rotates the camera around the lens node and you don't even need software to join the images... they just work!
Hi
A lot depends on what camera your going to use for the panos......bigger gear needs a more sturdier head (and tripod). I think you'll be very lucky to get one for £100 though. There is (or was maybe) a Nodal Ninja 5 for sale for around £250 on this site http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/th...mk-ii-only-used-1-time-xmas-reduction.520956/ ....but obviously this is more aimed at your bigger Dslr.
