I’m looking at doing some panorama shots and was wanting some advice on the best head to get, not really looking at spending £300 + for a really expensive one more like £ 100/150 while I learn

I use a Manfrotto 303 Pano head... and that's one of the cheapest. Where have you seen a panoramic head for £100??

If you mean stuff like this... http://www.manfrotto.com/panoramic-rotation-unit

That's not a true panoramic head. A true panoramic head allows rotation around the lens's focal node axis. All that cheaper one does is allow precise steps, but it's still rotating around the tripod bush, not the lens focal node.

A thread with one reply in it... and that reply is just some bloke saying he prefers ball heads over pan heads.. not massively helpful. Neither of those are true panoramic heads. A true panoramic head rotates the camera around the lens node and you don't even need software to join the images... they just work!

See post #21 in this thread

Cheers for the link couldn't find that one when I did a search.

All I've ever used are Nodal Ninjas (I have 2. Hmm, I really should sell one.)

Gorgeous kit. Not cheap - even 2nd hand you won't get one for close to £100. But very nice and easy to use.

I just use a sunwayphoto ball head with panning clamp from eBay. Was about £160 and I stitch with Microsoft ice
