'Chocolate' B&W - preferences?

I'd like your opinions on this. I have a wedding this weekend which has a chocolate coloured theme (bridesmaids dresses etc) and I have been asked if I could process some images in black and white but with a chocolate tint - they don't want a full sepia which I am quite pleased about. :D

I've been playing around with various settings and have come up with a couple of actions - obviously I want to use actions for consistency although they are adjustable through the use of various contrast layers. #1 is deliberately a bit softer but I have the ability to mask back any details I want such as eyes, face etc (which I did in this example). #2 is slightly more contrasty and #3 is my 'standard' black and white conversion which I have included for reference.

Ignore the image content as this was the last image to be closed and it was just for practice.

Whaddya think?

I like no 1 best :)

with No 2 (on my monitor) the stripes on the mans jacket stand are a bit distracting, and no 3 doesn't look quite as pleasing - if you know what I mean! :)

mmmmmm.... Chocolate....... what a lovely colour to chose ;):lol:
 
First shot is my favourite of the toned ones, but I'm a sucker for a good black and white and the third shot really stands out to me :thumbs:
 
at the risk of a "me too" post.... #1

#2 is more of a Bronze rather than Chocolate to me... funny how a couple of shades can change the look from soft to hard.
 
#2 is the closest to chocolate for me but to be honest none of them actually really stand out as chocolate, it's a lovely photo and the processing on all three is great but if you hadn't talked about chocolate first I would never have picked up on it.
 
The shade in No1 is looking a bit too yellowy brown imo. To my eyes No2 has a more "chocolate" feel to it. I reckon you could push it a bit further too Colin ;)
 
Colin, I think it depends on what you are doing with the images, printing or just for online viewing. I know printers can match colour wise what is on the screen but what about the final print, is it behind glass, on canvas or an acrylic block etc. All will look nice but some better than others on differing materials.

I prefer #2 if Chocolate is your theme. (on my monitor)
 
No1 is definitely my choice in the chocolate versions, but the straight conversion in no3 is also very nicely done.
 
#2 for me is more chocolate, but only when compared to #3. Standing alone, there isn't really much "chocolateness*" at all.

* Is this a word?

:lol: And I will balance it with a no2. The punch it gives the jacket and presence of the subjects against the background is a win for me.
 
Can we see the original to compare them too?? :)
 
I don't 'see' any chocolate in them either, but I'd go for No 1...

I can see the huge difference between the original and the others, but definitely don't see it as brown/chocolate... bad screen? Faulty hardware (eyes)? :D
 
I would say that #1 looks better, but #2 looks more chocolatey, although I don't think the toning is 100% there (I'm thinking of dairy milk rather than dark chocolate though)
 
I suppose it kind of depends on your taste in Chocolate... there's a big difference in colour from Galaxy to Lindt 85% Cocoa isn't there :shrug:
 
Just looked at this thread again on a 24" monitor, and can definitely see the chocolate tint now.... still No 1 for me...
