Chinese new year celebrations in london what lens?

Not sure I want to take more than one lens, i mean i might do but wonder what people think. choices are on full frame - 14mm 2.8 , 24-70 or 70-200 im leaning towards 70-200 as im not sure i will get close to much.
 
Last time I went, it was totally rammed, so I would forget the 70-200 (unless you want to take someones eye out). I`m going on Sunday, and will only be using my 35mm f2 on FX
 
oh dear, i havent been since i was about 12 or something, cant remember, i know ive been once but a very long time ago. so maybe just a 50mm might be best then.
 
24-70 will cover everything you need. If they have the stage and a live event going at Trafalgar, I would pack the 70-200 just in case. It got me shots that I couldnt get otherwise.
 
At an event like this where getting great shots of the main event is nigh on impossible ignore the staged events and I the day as a street photographer exercise, most of the spectators will bee too distracted by the event to notice yet another photographer. so I would suggest taking only you 14mm and the 24-70mm.
 
Given how crowded it's likely to be, I'm almost tempted to leave the 5D3 at home and just take my old 350D + nifty-fifty.
 
I popped over there on Sat, and went back today. I don't live too far so it was in walking distance.
I felt it was really too packed to bother shooting much, and there didn't seem to be much going on anyway.
I took my 70-200 f/4 and 24-70 f/2.8 II on my 5DMKIII. I found the 70-200 to work better, but last year it was the other way around. I suppose it really just depends on what images you want to capture. For me it was more candids so I could stand back from the crowd and still shoot.

We didn't go in the end, my wife wasn't too keen, but it seems we didn't miss much anyway.
 
Trafalgar Square was packed to bursting, and it looked like there was quite a bit going on on stage, but other than that I really didn't see much.
They had the usual dragons and drummers visiting he various shops but they were always surrounded by huge groups of people.
On Sat it was quieter but I didn't take much, thinking Sunday would be better.
3 hours out, 17 shots. Not a good figure.
 
I went, waited in Shaftesbury Avenue for the parade, people just pushing in front of people, as said Trafalgar square was rammed. I ended up leaving and going to my usual fav places instead . had quick look at my shots, not much at all worth keeping
 
I agree with the sentiment here, the place was packed and chaotic. I wandered around with a GX1 and 45-175 and I am glad I didn't lug around heavy gear. I didn't see many photo opportunities and it didn't help with the sun shining straight into the lens.
