Chinese MFT camera on the way

http://www.43rumors.com/yi-technology-will-announce-new-mft-camera-monday/

Its up to them now,i believe they can design and build top class cameras, the question is will they.
I have a xiaomi phone I think they're a great company. I wish they sold their TVs here because i would have one of them too. This camera could be very interesting if they use their phone know how into the camera with a sim card and android OS. I started a thread this week on the future of consumer cameras saying modular systems to work with phones could be it. I think this might be just such a product. If it is I'll have one.

It's using the Sony sensor that Olympus use on their newer bodies;

That was an interesting read. :D

I've not heard of them before. Interesting products. (being serious)

They are a big purchaser from Sony. I think they're the first or second largest selling phone in China. This could get very interesting if the start building 3rd party body's for all the major systems.

The Kodak pixpro (S1?) is Chinese, and m4/3rds already. Decent body, decent kit zoom lens, but nowhere to buy it from!

Indeed, my phone is a Xiaomi Redmi 3 Pro and it's quite incredible for the money :eek:

I've got an action cam which I modified to use a camera knee to keep some details in the highlights and to record at 35Mbps and a fitness monitor that cost £12 and has similar specs to a fitbit.

Looking at their phones and their TV streaming box as my next purchase.

Nothing incredible about it really. Just cheap labour.
The incredibly bit isn't their price it's the mark up on the other brands build in the same factory for three or four times the retail price.

I guess in some ways this is a good way for them to start, lets be honest if they made a top notch camera at a top price they would struggle to sell the idea that it was worth buying.

When I was looking for a new phone I thought they were rather expensive actually. I mean I like the Redmi Pro, excellent on paper, but at £400 you are well into OPO or Nexus territory. Each to their own, but they aren't as cheap as people make them out to be, unless you choose a cheap model but then again you can get those Motorola, Wileyfox and the likes as well with decent local support.

However it is great to see another entrant in the M43 space, can hopefully only be good for consumers in the end.

Which Pro model is that? I thought it was almost half that price at $250?

Anyway its nice to see a new name someone brave enough to join a shrinking market.

Just Redmi Pro the only model I found of interest.
