Chillimonsters 52 for 2010 - Week 1 - Curved

Spotted this while out an about with the kids for a snowy walk.

Its actually the snow covered top of a gravestone. The green on the stone is moss, and the light was making it glow a really nicely saturated green.

took me several seconds to see what it was even with the description
my eyes wanted to see it as an archway - but the snow was on the inside:thinking:

lovely bright green as you say

(background is a tad fussy for me though - sorry!)

I know what you mean about the background - if i had the GF1 with me it would have been way OOF, but only had the TZ7 with me as it was a snowman making trip :D

Like it Chris

Thanks dave :)

very nice image...

The green really does stand out i like it. Maybe if you tries blurring or burning the background it might stand out even more.

I like it, didn't have the first clue what it was till I read the description. Mebbe blur the bg a bit in photoshop or similar, but I like it anyway, the greens really stand out. Did you use flash to bring them up?

I might go and re-do it tomorrow with the GF1 to blur the BG a little.

As for flash - i dunno?? Its fully auto, so it might have fired (if it did it was too bright outside to notice anyway)

Not that bad Chris. You would think you've done this posting shots thing before. ;)

I'm subscribed now, can't have me missing anything.

 Thanks Jonny :)

Off to re-take it tomorrow (its only 20 yards from my front door so not too far to go :) )

At first I thought it was the lid of a green garbage tank, until i read the description..Nice one!

Took me a while, but yeah I see it Chris, nice one, off to a cracking start ;)

Wow that green really stands out, As others have said may look better with a shallower DOF.

The close framing works well and that green is WOW.

Hi Chris,

Really interesting shot - it took me a while to figure it out and it's playing havoc with my eyes. It keeps changing from convex to concave and then back to just a gravestone again !!!!

As an abstract it works really well. Fantastic detail in that green moss, but as has already been said the background does distract a bit.
I think it would still make an on-theme and interesting shot as a more conventional gravestone shot, showing the whole thing. In fact I think you could get away with the background more with the whole stone in shot.

Very vivid green Venomator would love this one  as with the others without the description I would have been left still guessing what it was. Very different and works well

Wow Chris, that took me several looks, even with the description to work out what it was, and even knowing it still looks very unusual  a great start.

Very different and quite abstract, even after the explanation it still looks abstract!

Good effort!

Hey Chris, what's happened here... didn't even realise you'd started a 52!
