"Just Desserts!"

Caitlin enjoying a jam sponge cake that her gran made for after sunday tea (She makes the desert, I make the sunday tea - works well!).

Enjoying being back in touch with the DSLR again, Low DOF and Natural light really suits my style of shooting ;)

"Sniffles!"

Caitlin has got the 'sniffles' - and she goes to Turkey with Gran at weekend! Hopefully it will clear before then and not develop into anything major - fingers crossed!

LX3 for this one as the wide angle on the DLSR will not focus this close (1 cm from the front element!)

I really tried with the DSLR for this shot, but it just didn't work - Horses for Courses i suppose ;)

Doesn't matter which tool it is as long as it gets the job done.

Nice angle, composition and DOF, Chris, I'd say job done! :)

Thanks John. I think sometimes i get too hung up on the equipment rather than the picture (as i think we all do sometimes :shrug:)

"Bad Day!"

Our cat (Jess) has taken a turn for the worse and is unwell. She is just short of 19 years old and she only has one tooth left!. Over the past week she has gone rapidly downhill, to the point that she cannot walk, and Kerie has had to take food to her and carry her outside when she needs the loo.

We have had to make to decision to have her put to sleep on Thursday :-(

(EDIT - she actually died on wednesday night so we never made it to the vet, so she now rests in our back garden (along with two rabbits and a hamster!))

"Gargle, Gargle, Spit!"

Rebecca has been suffering with a sore throat all week, and a cough. We have had her to the doctor to make sure it's not serious as she flies to Turkey with Gran on sunday morning. But just to help things along, i've had her gargleing with TCP. It seems to be working!

So sorry to hear about the cat, 19 years is a good effort though so be happy that you cared well for her. My cat also died before I could get to the vet (on my bed), it was a terrible experience I wouldn't wish on anybody.

On a happier note, we went out today and got two 8 week old kittens :) Kerie has always had a cat or two, so she felt lost without one.

One of them is just a little bewildered, the other is a little bit viscious and has already tasted blood (mine!!) :eek:
 
Months of fun ahead of you then.

Vicki wants another kitten, but I think I'd rather have a pair. Thing is that'd leave us with 5 cats:eek:
 
I'm more of a dog person myself, so it was heartbreaking going to the animal shelter and seeing the dogs that needed re-homing :(

I would have loved to take one home, but just could not commit to one due to work and general business.

Sorry to hear about your cat, always a sad time no matter how long you had them, just think of the good life she had with you :)

We had 15 at one point, me and my dads fault, only 2 of them left now.

How your 365 gonna work out without the girls, a bit of time off?

As for the 365, Gran is under instruction to make sure there is at least one picture a day, so that the project can continue ;)

"New Arrivals!"

Although not a picture of my girls, this is in the 365 as they will be a big part of the girls lives.

Following on from the entry a few days ago when our cat died, we went to Tameside Animal Shelter and got two kittens to replace Jess. The black one is the more relaxed of the two, with 'Jaws' being a little 'wild' and likes to bite and scratch. A few weeks bribary should sort that out ;)

"Leaving On A Jet Plane......"

Well, we were up at 3:45 this morning to take the girls and Gran to the airport as they are off to Turkey for the week. There are a total of 8 of them going (3 adults, 5 Children) and i'm sure they will have a good time, as i am sure that Kerie and myself will miss them dearly.

Ah so that's what the kittens have been brought in for, temporary duaghter 365 replacements! :p
 
You're gonna be stuck for your 365 now! hehe

Sorry to hear about Jess :( 19 years is quite an acheivement. We're dreading when our Felix passes on, but it will teach the children a good lesson in loss IMO.

Hope Caitlin and Rebecca enjoy their holiday. How did you ever manage to get Rebecca to gargle TCP? My daughter's a right softarse, she'd take one whiff and go 'no chance, I'd rather have the sore throat'. lol

The kittens certainly have very different personalities, and you can see which one will be causing all the trouble :lol:

Gran is under instructions to make sure plenty of pics are taken to continue the 365 for the week :thumbs:

When Caitlin came home on the day i burried Jess, she wanted to see her and wanted to know if i would dig her back up so she could have a look :eek:

She is ok with death etc and went to see both grandads at the funeral parlour when they died. Both of the girls wanted the chance to say 'goodbye' to them both and i think it taught them a lot about death when they did so.

The TCP was simple. The way they are at airports and boarding gates now, they can refuse you entry to the plane if they suspect anything contaigious (sp?) so it was a case of TCP, or risk staying at home while her sister had a holiday with gran :D

Could they get to a net cafe or email/MMS some shots over to continue the weeks? :D

Thanks Lisa, the girls were really excited, and couldn't wait to get on the plane. I surprised they had the time to stop for the picture :lol:
 
The girls have just got back from a weeks holiday in Turkey with Gran. They had a great time.

The first couple of days were a little poor weather wise, but the latter part of the week was gloriuos sunshine.

"Jet Lagged!!"

Well, the girls are back.

They've been up and at it since yesterday morning and due to the distance from the airport and the time / length of the flight they are shattered.

Of course Rebecca will not admit it and have a sleep, but Caitlin got herself settled, grabbed a blanket and fell asleep within minutes.
 
Really glad they're back - Missed em both like crazy :D

Dunno why you cant see some of them - they all show for me :thinking:
