Chillimonster's '365'

"Identity"

These days Identity is everything, and the whole world is moving to various forms of Identifying an individual.

Just before the summer break, Rebeccas school intorduced a cashless system for paying for school meals (and eventually vending machine items) where fingerprint scanners are installed. It saves the pupils carrying cash as it can be topped up remotely and allows the school to see what each pupil spends there money on. It also allows them to set daily spend limits.

Cash is going out of fashion!

Just realised I hadn't caught up with yours for a while Chris. You've really got the B&W conversions down to a fine art now. That said you go and post a colour one although in this instance definitely the right option.

Thanks Marc :)
Gotta post a colour shot every now and again, just to keep everyone on their toes and to make sure they're paying attention  :D

Colours are just amazing in that shot love it!!!!!!!

Thanks Julian :)

"Class Dismissed!"

Tonight was the last night of Gymnastics until September, and the coach had them doing obsticle courses in the gym. Sixty minutes of non-stop excercise later and there were a lot of sweaty youngsters ready for a shower!!

Thanks Julian.

No more troubles (till September at least ), but it means i have to think again for fridays shots

Lovely shot Chris, she looks very relaxed and natural.

Thanks Marc :)

love the colours in the arcade one, those toys look interesting too!

Like the finger print, like the idea about no cash in school makes sense.

Another great portrait, agree she looks natural and relaxed :)

Thanks Lisa. Poured around £5 into that damned machine and got nothing :bang:

"Do You Think She Will Turn Into A Butterfly?!?!"

We got some of Rebeccas camping stuff out of the loft today to get it ready for her Guides trip next weekend.

I thought about leaving her in the sleeping bag overnight, just for giggles, but was over-ruled by SWMBO!

The secret is to watch other people play it first, if they don't get anything after a few quid, you have a better chance... (mis-spent youth)

Catch up Chris, lovely B&W as always. Really like yesterdays. :)

Thanks Jonny :)

I waited and watch, but when it was my turn i was rubbish.

"Peek-a-Boo!"

As it decided to stop raining at lunch-time we went off for a walk around Bardsley Vale on the Oldham / Ashton Border.

"Rooster Booster!"

The girls went to the doctors today to have their boosters for their upcoming holiday to Turkey (Gran is taking them away later in the year), hence the title (Turkey / Booster - geddit!!) :)

I was just going to call the shot "Paxo" but thought it might go over the younger members heads

Another catchup here. Fair play for standing your ground with the moronic parent.
I would have stood my ground at first but probably felt too self-concious to carry on, even the week after. Ive never had any problems at school either (and most of the parents know how passionate I am about photography and collecting photos of my own children).

That B&W stuff is coming along a right ole treat too. Share your secrets!

Thanks Marcel.

I very nearly back down, but she was being an arse so i just dug my heals in

As for the B&W stuff - i think i'm addicted. I've even got to the point of starting to make my own 'actions' (which i'll post up if anyone is interested ;) )

Glad you explained your last shot, wouldnt have got it otherwise

Ooh go on then, lets see this action :D

You've go to be a certain age to remember the ads (makes me sound old!! - i'm 'only' 40!!)

I've got a few different actions dependant on the subject matter, so i'll sort them this weekend and upload them to my webspace ;)

But 40 is old??

Your B&W addiction is catching, I now convert everything from colour to B&W first, before doing any other PP. Just to see what it looks like!! :D

"Check-List!"

Rebecca is off to Guide camp for the weekend tomorrow and judging from the amount of luggage she's taking you'd think it was for a two week stay! But then again looking at the weather forcast she'll need a few spare sets of clothes :)

"Getting Dialed In!"

I Swapped from a Nikon D700 to an Olympus E-30 earlier in the week and took advantage of a tremendous offer at Jessops and have spend the last few days getting to grips with it. Its a totally different beast to the D700 in many was, not least of which in the way it renders certain colours.

The upshot of this is that my post-processing is having to change and i'm having to re-learn some of the things i did with the D700. I had developed various presets for my B&W processing in Lightroom that only ever needed a minor tweak to get an image how i wanted it, so i will be 're-building' these over the coming week or so and hopefully get back to my usual B&W style.

I need to do some major catching up on everyone's 365 this weekend - sorry guys, and girls :(

More cracking B&W portraits Chris. Where do you get the inspiration to continually find all those new ideas?

Thanks Mark.

Camera is always with me and tend to just fire of shots at the kids no matter what they're doing

Seems to work :)
