"Tribute To Warhol"

Post Processing Week - Day 3 (Pop Art)
Tonight i tried my hand at creating a 'pop-art' poster by using Exclusion & Multiplication layers. Learnt loads :)

Thanks Del - its gonna be my new Avatar (when i get a moment )

I must take the time to catch up on your 365 (and many others too!) when i get the time ;)

"Colour Me Happy!"

Post Processing Week Day 4
Tonight i had a play with some fo the built-in filter effects in the PSPX2. This is the Contours effect (with a bit of additional tweaking)

I quite like the effect - it remids me of the paint by numbers kits i used to play with as a kid :)

I love the detail in Green Eyed Monster Chris! Absolutely Fab!

Nearly as much as me... :suspect: ... I think NOT Dell... :D

Thanks Del - its gonna be my new Avatar (when i get a moment

Now you are really making me Green (eyed) with envy... :suspect:

"Highlights of the day!"

The girls both went to the hairdressers today. We always let them decide on their own hair styles and they always know exactly what they want, we just take them and pay!

I think the 1st shot of toady's is 1st class portrait Chris, love it, conversion and DoF is spot on :)

Thanks Julian, I agree about the B&W - the colour versions just dont work as well as these :)

Catching up Chris. the mosaic effect works well on yesterday's pic and today's are excellent, the B&W suits them really well.

Thanks Marc. I though it was about time i delved into something other than Lightroom and do a bit of learning. Its been a fun week :)

"Push The Button"
No matter how much I try I always manage to forget something on the weekly shop. As the weather was glorious (again) and we dont live too far from the local Tesco, the girls and myself took a walk to get the missing items. We have always drilled into them the need for road safety and there is always a race to 'push the button'!

I also seem to be going through a bit of a B&W phase at the moment. If it all gets a bit much, feel free to tell me off!

Yeah mono conversion is not easy to get right. I never use the auto settings. I prefer to use the Channel mixer (set to mono obviously) and adjust each RGB channel until I got the result I like. Depending on the colours in the shot I tend to move one of the RGB channels to the left whilst moving the other 2 towards the right (note: Ansel Adams type effect are just extremes of these adjustments). One final tip too is to apply a cross-processing effect if you are converting to mono, sometimes this can add even more punch (used both these techniques on my shot today). Anyway that's just the approach I have found over time.

Good luck, look forward to more mono's, I love em :D

Thanks for the tips Julian - much appreciated.

Now forgive me for being a little 'thick' but whats 'cross-processing'? I've heard it mentioned many times but never known what it is :bonk:  :shake:

It's an old dark room technique (well it sounds like it was hit and miss to me), where the wrong chemicals were added when developing. In photoshop, when adjusting curves, there is a cross-process preset that you can select.

nice portrait, looks very grown up. But that's children, can't believe how quickly they grow up, blink and the next minute they will be wanting to borrow your car keys :)

Thanks Julian.

Its so true - i can just about remember them both being born and then its like someone sneaked into my life and pressed the fast-forward button

LOOKING GOOD CHILLI:thumbs:

Just popping in the thread to say I'm still following and catching up when I can :)
She sure does look more grown up with that new hairstyle too!

And yes, they do grow up way too quick. Before you know it, all your tax breaks are gone :p

I bet Caitlin loves her new grown-up hairstyle Chris. Two lovely shots.

Did Rebecca have her hair done too?

Yeah Rebecca did have it done, but everytime i think of taking a picture she has just washed it so i go and find Caitlin instead.

I'll try and corner her later ;)

"Forget Me Not!"

My kids can be a bit scatterbrained at times. Never a week goes by without Kerie having to go into school when she picks up Caitlin because she has forgot something, or the kids forgetting something important in the morning such as their coat / school bag etc. Mind you i'm no better! ;)
