"Whatcha Doin??"

Just a quick picture of Caitlin when she came into the computer room and asked (Phineas and Ferb style) "Whatcha Doin?"

So when thinks like that happen, do you shout "Stay perfectly still while I get my camera!"? :D

My Kids - Stay Still - not likely

I had my back turned, and the camera was within reach, so one quick 'spin' and it was all over :D

"Testing Testing 1..2..3.."

Just a quick test shot tonight after give my 50D a bit of a whack with the 100-400mm Lens on it. The front of the lens took the brunt of the impact and its dented the filter ring. The camera survived without a scratch, but was worried about any ill effects until i took some sample shots with the Tamron 90mm.

Bad thing is it was to be sent out to its new owner today to raise some much needed funds! Oh well these things are sent to try us all!

You've confused me, you had a D700, now 50D and I read today you are looking for Nikon lenses?
Anyway, glad your body survived the fall. Hopefully the lens won't cost too much to repair?

The lure of the dark-side was pulling me over and i got the offer of some lenses at good prices so thought what the hell - you only live once, so put the 100-400 up for sale to help fund the purchase.

Someone is trying to tell me something :suspect: :shake:

So i've now got no choice but to stick with the 50d for a while. I think it'll do me some good not having a choice in the matter and let me get on with actually taking some photos rather than worry about the equipment and swapping and changing (wife breathes a sigh of relief at that last part )

The lens still seems to work ok and the IS still functions as before, but i'm going to send it in and have it serviced and repaired, just in case :)

I'm confused too. I'm wondering if you'll have a Sony A900 by next week, or a Hasselblad perhaps? ;)

Not without a lottery win Marc

Wife has banned me from spending any money on cameras for a while (and i dont blame her!)

Glad your camera is ok after the bump, is that the Tamron Di 2.8 90mm macro you have? have that too, love it :)

I'm now thinking about getting a 100-400 or the 400mm

Yup that the lens. It was the only one i was going to keep out of my canon ones (an borrow the rest when needed) and get a D700 body for the short / low light stuff.

Oh well

"Closer"

Had a bit of a play with my Macro lens tonight and tried some different processing - Does it work?

On a slightly different note - my 100-400 is perfectly fine. I didn't realise at the time but i had a good sized cheapo filter on the front of it and it was this that dented. In my haste i just panicked and thought the worst :nuts:

Yeah, like the eye shot, works for me.

Glad your 100-400 is ok. I hope to be picking one up tomorrow, fingers crossed :)

The eye shot works for me as well Chris, did you try it with the large white area to the right cropped out??

Thanks JD.

I tried it but it put the eye too central for my taste. So I left her nose in the picture.

"I Wish I Could Fly......."

Friday Night is Gymnastics Night for Caitlin, and tonight they were using the trampoline :)

Love the eye shot Chris, there's a fair amount of emotion in it (a good thing!). I think the composition works well.

Thanks Marc :)

I like it so much it's my current desktop wallpaper at home and work :)

Great action shot again. Wow, your girls seem to have an active life, what don't they do, bet it all keeps did busy too ;)

Got my 100-400 today, push/pull zoom feels kind of strange, I guess you get used to it.

After having the D700 and getting used to the low light capabilities - no :(

I changed to the 50d for financial reasons, but felt as though i was missing shots i would have got with the D700 so, thanks to some payments for some published shots that came out of the blue, i'm going back to a D700 :D

FYI: I am certain I spotted 2 D700's for sale on here over the last few days.

Thanks John :)

And as for the D700 - i just received one this morning.

Good to be back, and only cost me a total of £50 to swap to canon and back again
