weekly ChickenDipa's 52 week 2012 Colour + Shadow added

Hi Alex

catch up time for me......

Pride...great image , lovely focus on the roses , great use of DOf ( maybe a little less to bring the word Yorkshire slightly more in to view ?) but love the idea & well shot

Flight...superb capture , nuff said :clap::thumbs:

Random....def on theme...how do you cook that thing ? of the 2 images I prefer #1...better detail on the texture of the veg ,maybe lose the blue bit to the left ?

Good few weeks for you , 22 & still going strong

Random - Interesting vegetable ! Out of the two I prefer number one but you've used a very large aperture there which has had the effect of diminishing focus around the sides and ends, which may well have been your intention. Perhaps an aperture of F/11 < to tighten it ? Possibly, maybe, just a thought. Bang on theme

Nick

Thanks for all the random shot comments. I wil admit I did have it on the wrong setting to start off with :bonk: but I liked what I was getting. I think it gives the picture more context rather than just a flat picture of a vegetable.

The background is a little messy, it was taken where it was cut - the kitchen!

For those interested it went into a potato gratin, I couldnt really tell it apart from the potatoes but Jon could.

Time to catchup with what you've all been doing!

Good to see you back up and running in the 52 again.

I'd go for #1 with a bit of tidying of the colours in the background. Shows some good texture in the vegetable.

That is one random and I have to say, ugly looking vegetable. BG has been mentioned and I'd like to see a tad more depth to get all the thingy in focus.

Cheers.

Thanks Andy, it is a pretty odd looking thing. Take on board the focus comments, I do like it as it is as it gives it a little something different.

Temperature - not to get hung up on getting something really different or out there or whatever I went with my first idea. Wanted to get this done early this week so I could try and catchup on Authority - working memory card check! - and Leave. They are coming! Honest :)

The time is a little too distracting in this one I think

I think this i my favourite..I think

#3 (Temp 1) for me Alex. It's nice and simple with no distractions. I like that there's a strip of light running down the subject just in the right place.

Random - like the new version of #1 with the darker background, but as previous comment bit tight on the DOF.

Temperature - def on theme. liking #3 and the light picking out the temp symbol.

Another vote for #3 Alex. A simple but effective take on the theme.
Sometimes it is worth just taking a literal take on a theme. I think this is where I am heading to with this weeks theme too. Iain

Random, that's certainly Random Alex, but it works, nice bit of cloning too.

Temperature, gonna go with #3, the close in view... I like it, it fits the theme, and nice and simple.

Temp 1 I think. Great interpretation and composition, but maybe a bit dark? It just needs a bit more punch somehow IMHO :)

Hi Alex, I think your cloning of your random shot has worked well, it looks beter now.

Temperature, it's number three for me, I also like the strip of light down the middle and the grainy detail in the metal. In number two I think it would possibly look better with the whole of the clock window and second dial in it:thinking: Number one is too far away and I had to zoom in (on my phone) to see what I was looking at!

Well done for still being here at week 23:clap:

Thanks Mar, Nick and Marsha.

I did try and lighten it but the more I did the more I did not like it. This was the one I was happy with.

Was not going to admit this but if I say it quick you might not notice thelightdownthemiddlewasnotplanned :D

Glad to still be here, I owe two weeks but will get them sorted this week as I am off.

Well done to everyone!

Abstract - Andy (posiview) has already said it, easy yet soooo hard. And it is! I am not convinced by this one whatsoever but there you go. It was a lesson in playing with PS and trying to do something different. Abstract? Who knows. I may go find out what the actual definition is  I am going to try and take something else.

Abstract Colour

It's an interesting image Alex, and it's good to push the boundaries a bit in PS, but I'm not sure it really works. I think it would have been better if you'd been able to get the background all blue tinted, with none at all on the poppies (even the black and green parts of hem).

However, it certainly is abstract, even if you're not sure what it means!!!

I'm afraid I have to say this one isn't for me - sorry. That said it's definitely falls into my definition of abstract so it's definitely on theme.

Thanks for the comments so far. Very experimental week so happy to take all angles!!

I really wanted to have a good play around in PS, so that goal was met but still do not know what I am doing hehe

Hi Alex

Temperature - I'm liking #2 (Termp 2) I like seeing the context of the dial

Abstract - Yeah not bad, good strong colours, i quite like the white bleeding through the Blue, adds a bit of detail

I messed around for a bit and decided the detail did add to it and I liked it more with it in.

It is certainly very fitting for abstract, I like the white showing through the blue. How did you do this?

Thanks, not sure?! Changed the Tone curve and then messsed with the tint and temperature.

Not sure its for me!! Jon said he didnt like it either. Happy to accept that :)

All about pushing ones self!

Leave - I know another dog (Lela) who won't go outside if its raining but you can't get her out of the water when out on a walk!:)

Puddles and other water expanses are all fair game on a walk. He can be tempted out with the promise of playing ball but other than that no way!

Hi Alex, you've been busy today!! I like your first shot of the roof, it's easy on the eye, good exposure and def covers the theme!!:)

Inspiration hit! And you got to go with it when it does.

Abstract set 2 - I have to say I like #1. The crop works well although a slight CW rotation would assist

Leave - Nice one. I guess he's been sat there for the last few days

Hi Alex, you have been busy:)

I can't say I'm a huge fan of number one either, but then I don't really like strong PP, but it's a taste thing.

I like the roof shot though but agree a tiny straighten would help.

For some reason my head wants to turn 90degrees to look at number three, I don't know why:bonk: Nice DOF here.

I really like four, but again a teeny straighten is needed!

Nice DOF in five really blurs the background:thumbs:

Leave, lol. Dogs are funny things, loves water, doesn't like rain that could be my 3 year old!!! I would maybe crop out the brick work to even things up a little.

Week 24 already:bonk: I'm off to lurk for the new theme.

I have no idea how to choose between those abstract shots Alex, they're all wonderful! If I was forced to crit any of them I'd say maybe lose he green line in the roof sheet one, or at least the white block top right, but that's about it.

Fantastic work,

Oh and leave is great too. The B&W suits it well, though possibly a tiny bit too dark, what with the dog being black and all?

I think I've managed to rotate it a little

Had to pretty much kick him out of the door this week, was starting to think of inside toilet solutions

Thanks Marsha for all the comments, very kind of you!

Slight straighten up on this one for you

Aww thanks Mark! Much appreciated.

Thanks also, will have a look, it did start off life as a bit lighter but was lacking some richness.

Good abstract set. I like them. Simple but effective.

Leave: Good job.

Thank you!!!

On to week 24!

Bloomin' nora girlie ,you've been busy...I disappear for a few days & come back to find you've been a busy little bee

Some cracking shots for Abstract..the wire basket thing works well to me as does the wall & wicked DOF there ) & I particularly like the edge of the roof shot.... I may have been tempted to crop out the greenery....but then again....what do I know about crops
