weekly Chevin's 52 for 2022 .... Week 42 ... Precision

Thanks Bee ... This game was totally staged and played with 7 dom's in each hand. Playing the five/two stitched up the game so no further dom's could be played ... on the count-up the double blank and blank/one beats the blank/two.
I'm glad you reminded me of the scoring. I'd forgotten that. Always loved dominos as a child.

Nice dominoes shot. well thought out and well executed

Thanks Simon

Agree with SimonH, Is there scoring in dominos?

Thanks Pete
Yes there is scoring in dominos and it depends on the game you are playing.
For instance if 4 people are playing straight dominos with a double six set (28 dominos) then the face-down dominos are shuffled and each player draws 6 dominos leaving 4 dominos unselected ie. sleeping. The object is to match the ends ie. a six is played onto a six, a two is played onto two until one player has either used all his dominos or the game becomes blocked where no player has dominos that match the end (we called it stitching up) then the player with the lowest pip count wins. Typically the matches are played first to 3 overall wins.

There is another game where the object is to have the sum of the domino pips at each end are devisable by 5 and 3 eg a player leads double 6 … 12 pips divided by 3 gives 4 points, the next player lays the 6/3 which gives 15 pips … devisable by 5, 3 times and 3 five times total 8 points.
The scoring continues until a player reaches 61 points (once round a 60 hole cribbage board and the finish hole) or 121 points (twice round a cribbage board)

There are lots of other games but where I lived many years ago in Halifax these were the most popular.

I like your shot Duncan, it looks well thought out and composed. I think that I'll avoid the whole game/sport debate. I've played some Mah Jong games that have also ended up on brawls.

Thanks Bill ... I've seen quite a few arguments turn nasty, biggest cause was playing the wrong domino, it was even worse on pension day ;)

Not able to get out atm so it's a created parallel (not universe though)

difference between a sport and a game is the physical aspect ...

The late Andy Fordham (darts) once said (words to the effect!) that of course he was an athlete - he wore trainers to play!

IIRC, poetry was one of the original modern olympics disciplines.

Very well thought out Parralel shot and get's my clever clogs of the week award :)

Excellent idea. Very neat writing!
Thanks David ... you should see some of my early school reports ... at the time they never thought my writing neat :p

I like that - well executed and very original.
Thank you for the comment Paul

Colourful and imaginative. Works for me.
Thanks Peter

Great image Duncan, it made me smile.
Thanks for the kind Bill

Thats a blast from the past, makes you think that if Imbibing an Alcoholic Beverage were a sporting event what a final between Andy Fordham and the late Rodney Marsh would be like :p

Didn't know about poetry but Pistol Duelling featured in the 1908 Olympics ... they only awarded a gold medal then

"Big" Bill Werbeniuk would take the crown, I think - half a dozen pints before a snooker match then a pint per frame. He eventually had to give up snooker when the drink and beta-blockers he took (on medical advice) were outlawed by the powers that be.

That's well thought up and well executed. I wish my writing was that neat!

A very good image Duncan, well composed and processed.

Nicely arranged and they stand out well from the background.
Made from high quality metal I expect.

Nice idea and well taken shot. I might just have left a little more space top and bottom.

Thanks Peter, typically made from High Speed Steel (HSS) an alloy usually of molybdenum, tungsten and chromium steel

Thanks Pete, looking at it again I can agree it could work better with more space at the top.

I like that a BIT :)

A lot actually :)

Golden Goose eggs?

I do think you've taken an eggcellant picture, nice grouping and well lit (y)

They are normal hens eggs ... they do feature in quite well known book & film of the book though ;)

Nice chucky eggses :)
