Is it half-term this week? If so go early to avoid some of the crowds. Another idea is to avoid the feeding shows and use that time to shoot some of the other animals whilst the crowds flock to see the penguins catch fish, etc.

Be prepared to wait for your shot, especially around the more popular animals. There will be a lull in the crowd, you just have to have a little patience.

Hope you enjoy your day out.

Lucky you!

Chester zoo is a lovely zoo although I find the new 'realm of the red ape' really hard to get any decent pictures of the orang utans!

The old enclosures had islands and much easier although saying that the whole new enclosure is fantastic for the orangys!

Big elbows to keep all the kids at bay thats my advice!!

You're not the only one who doesn't think the Orangs enclosure is any good for "togging", but it a lovely place for them to live.

Have to agree with zookeeper the new orang utan enclosure is awful for photographers, dont go into it, go round to the right of it , if they are outside there is a fence with much better backgrounds :)
