Chester Zoo meet - Saturday 30th September

well that shut everyone up you big bully ;)
So is everyone ready for this then, hope the weather is nice, not looking forward to it if it rains, but it is supposed to have a rain trail or something, and at least it should be a bit quieter, easier to get pictures.

Have updated the first page with responses I've got from PMs and things - if you've had a pm from me and you've not replied can you get in touch asap please? - especially if you've requested a voucher :)

Cheers,

Matt

If the weather forecast is good on the Friday before then i'll come along.

I've only taken one so far - of some folders at work, its going to have to wait till I get home and I'll take some out the back of the house.

Ha, you get used to the weight, didn't take long for me to get used to my lens (1.4kg)

As Pete says - stop whinging;) You crave this lens and as soon as it arrives you play the negatives

Congrats BTW:thumbs:

Just downloading the piccies I took a few minutes ago now, you can see the difference just looking through the viewfinder, wow at the L glass.

couple of questions about it actually - is it okay to take the tripod ring off? its a pain when you want to put the camera down, and how do you stop the focus ring spinning when you twist the tight-smooth ring?

If you dont use the tripod ring, or it makes it awkward just remove it, you cannot remove it while on the camera though. Also keep it in a safe place - their worth about £70 (so you dont want to lose it)

I'll see about taking one tomorrow with Sue's 350d

You can hardly see my camera, it looks tiny in comparison ;)

I'm not sure whether i'll be able to make this yet :(

I'm STILL unemployed (!) and if i'm going up on my own it's going to be an expensive day!

Id like to attend this, ill ask me mother if she wants to go (i need to learn to drive), failing that if anyone from the Lancashire area who is passing thru would be so kind as to pick me up Ill pay for the petrol/diesel and be very grateful.

Thats EXACTLY what I was going to say!!

If it's trying to turn into the side road........its missed it!!!:D

Its just turned out of a side road which is almost opposite that other one and is turning right, the other car is just turning left into the road that the red one came out of. Freezing the action sometimes produces some funny results :p

Does that mean, in Bradford they call fields roads

Glad I don't get up there much

 I'll be making sure I'm wearing MY weatherproof mascara
Someones rented the 100-400 for over the weekend & I have been forced to rent the 300 f4 IS + 1.4TC. Should be interesting at the least.
Feel like i'm contributing to the prime/zoom discussions that so many people enjoy :p & being a "zoom" person, I will let you know my opinions on that one.

I might have my tamron 17-50 F/2.8 by then too, which will be my first outing with it!

It's looking likely that i'll be there.

My status as admin allows me to select a mortal to carry my gear round all day while I eat those scrummy hotdogs. :woot:
