I've just completed my photography site :)

Quite happy with it in the end. Just thought I'd share it with you guys

i like the layout and the front page. The galleries are very very slow to load and the thumbnails and the resulting pic are a little on the small side for my taste.
 
Nice and clean layout, but agree that the photos take a while to load up. I'd also be tempted to find a way to get rid of the jaggedies on the Cherryrig Photography logo. Is there an anti-aliased version of the font?
 
AArgh...... that speed seriously would make me want to turn it off. :(

From the time I clicked on the gallery 1 box it took over half a minute to load the thumbnails of that gallery.

You must do something to speed this up if you can.

They are great shots, but in this day and age people dont have time or would get impatient I think. :thumbs:

i mean the image box that pops up is very small - much less than a 1/4 of my 19" screen.

i know you dont want it too big but a little bigger might show the images off better.
 
Nice site, with good content, but its like accessing it on a dial-up modem (if you remember them)
 
Took far too long to load the gallery thumbs, so I gave up and didn't even bother viewing an image. Slow server?? Big filesizes?? Something needs to be sorted!!
 
:agree: with the other responses Matt ... nice clean good looking site but the images should be instantaneous ... :suspect: ... they are more than painfully slow at the moment ... :shrug:

Looks neat, very nice photo on the homepage, If i were you I would use some gallery software rather than packing it all into one page. There easy enough too setup ;)

Too long to load so I moved on without waiting to see what would come up, Im on a 8mb connection so it's usually no slouch on opening sites. Perhaps if you can get it to open faster you won't lose potential clients.
 
Sorry to long to load.

The percieved wisdom is that if the page doesn't load in 5 second or less people lose interest.

Smaller files size?
 
because you're hosting on a free hosting... there's your problem, you get what you pay for.

Poor speed, if you want people to go to your site don't expect people to wait for it to load.

Invest in some hosting, doesn't have to be too expensive, couple of quid a month, should see that site loading a lot quicker.
 
SLow as hell here mate, 20mb connection too. I like your front page, I like the photo being the main focus. I do not like the blue borders on the gallary pages, but thats just personal taste. The thumbnails are absolutely 100% too small. I would say make them at least 4 times bigger.
 
Still pretty slow.

How much space does this site use?
 
Like the layout, it's clean and simple and there's some very nice images there.

It is still suffering from a speed problem though - even loading the thumbs. I was going to look at the source to see if you had scripts running that might be slowing it but you've been clever and protected the source code so I can't see it :-)
 
It might be just that quite a lot of people are looking at the site all at the same time cos some people say it loads fast, other say it's not. I can't win.

I was stopping people viewing the source it's to stop people from Right Click Save As... ;) :lol:

Still too slow and I can *Right Click Save As*. :)
 
its easy to navigate and minimalistic which is good, but whilst i dont find it as slow as some sites I do feel its not as fast as it could be.
The thumbnails really have to be bigger with perhaps a little more of the actual shot in them, ( i dont like looking up someones nose in a thumbnail for example lol).

All in all its got hte makings of a good site *** so well done and keep at it.

nice site what annoyed me was that i had to click on the image then click back to open another! could do with backward and forward arrows to make scrolling easier, and perhaps a little to slow for this modern age.

What did you use to make the web site with? The above comments re the web host couldn't be more correct. Also how have you configured the JPEG's for viewing? 72d.p.i or 300?
Let me know and I'll try to help you out as much as I can, I've had more than enough trubba with web sites, I'm nearly bald now and most likely need counselling.

I like the front page, and look/feel but load times and performance are horrendous. I don't think performance is being helped as contents are hosted in USA either.

Would of been better to chose a UK based host for site instead, cost wise shouldn't be much different either.

As others have said speed is slow. Like the photos from what I've seen. I was expecting to be routed to the elinchrom website though;)

Haha

Right things I need to change,

1. Speed
2. Picture size
3. Loading time
4. How quickly the page comes up

So basically the speed!!

I'll try again and say when/if it's any better
 
I fear you'd have to change the hole hosting provider/package to get that to speed up.

I'm guessing but the actual file sizes of your pages are probably not causing that slow load...more like the providers access times at fault. (something like that)

I'm at 6-7 meg surf speed and had to wait two minutes to see two pictures... :eek:


Damn fine skate board shots they where too ...very nice. :thumbs:
 
Hate to say it but I gave up before waiting for the images to load :(

The site is terribly slow and gave up after 30 seconds of waiting for the pictures.

Well seeing as everyone is just saying the same thing and that I said that I was trying to fix it.

Everyone keeps saying the same thing and nothing about the looks, just that it is slow, which is why I'm trying to sort it!

If people were giving me help like Tomas Whitehouse then the site wouldn't be slow as I'd be trying different things to fix it!
